  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

To hope you have something that will either kill you or fix you if treatable?

Not wrong. Understandable. But not practical.

Not wrong, I always cause injuries to my head in the hopes I have a subarachnoid hemorrhage, but it's near impossible unless I go one-on-one with a dirty professional boxer. Brain tumors are no joke though, they can cause massive headaches.

I believe that it is not wrong to hope you have this. Suicide is very difficult, the society does not respect our right to die, we are denied peaceful ways to exit and we are kept alive by a powerful survival instinct. I would personally rather die at a time of my own choosing, when the time is right for me, but it is understandable wanting something else to end your life. Life is only meaningless suffering after all and all that I want is to escape all pain.

i mean for suicidal people to fantasise that something takes them out for them is completely understandable and would be harsh to call it "wrong". but with the same token i perhaps wouldn't go up to someone with a brain tumour and say that I wish that I was them or similar (ik OP is not saying that)

lol yea probably because once you know how it cripples you before it kills you you don't want it anymore. but ignorance is bliss.

My aunt died of cancer. She received drugs to relieve the pain, but they did not help. This is hell. Believe me, it is better to take care of your health in order to prevent this.

It's not wrong to want to have the action of ending your own life taken out of your hands, it's obviously not an easy action to fulfil considering the amount of us on here…

For some, losing the choice and having death imposed upon them is a relief; for others, it makes them realise that they want to carry on after all. Best way to cure indecision is to take away choice.

It'd be just my luck that I'd just be horribly impaired by an apparently "fatal" brain tumour and still live a long, miserable existence in even more pain and declining independence :ahhha:

If I had a choice, I would prefer to die of natural causes rather the suicide. But cancer is hard man. There is a video on youtube of a girl documenting her brain tumor progression and it's absolutely heartbreaking. If you're not sure what's causing your depression or mental health issues, then any info that can give you some insight or hope is welcomed, I guess. Although diagnose like a brain tumor would be tough in any circumstances.

No it is not wrong and very much understandable. I had couple of mini brain strokes 2 years ago. It didn't kill me but destroyed me much more, whatever was remaining. I too wish to have some serious illness like brain tumor, cancer, heart attack or basically anything but only if it kills me immediately. But I know my life is too much of a b***h to give me that favour!

No. I smoke heaps in hopes it will kill me. I recently had a bunch of scans done on my back (MRI, CT, Bone), and I felt sad when the specialist said "well we can rule out any bone cancers".
