Does anyone think much about afterlife? What do you think happens? Has anyone had a near death experience and seen the afterlife?

Here are some of my theories and why I think them:

Reincarnation: Maybe a nicer scenario than some other things. I've heard of stories in the news where young children have led people to their body which was never found or told stories of previous lives they lived.

Choosing a pre-planned life: Heard a judge discuss this theory in a murder case (unfortunately do not remember which case or who the judge was). But the theory was that souls see the whole life of a person before being born and they choose which life they want to live. I remember her talking about the victim, saying she was a strong soul to sacrifice herself to a life of torment if this theory is true.

Black void/Space/Ocean: One time I thought I had died during a K-Hole. I remember being paralyzed, my body felt like I was submerged in the ocean, still with waves around me, but not wet. It felt and looked almost space-esc. However this afterlife scared me. I was unable to move and open my eyes but my brain was awake. I had all of my memories and thoughts. Sometimes I worry death could be like this, could be stuck to mentally suffer for eternity.

I don't know what's there but I hope it's like my consciousness disappears and I just cease to exist, like imagine I finally kill myself and then whatever higher power just decides I have to keep on living but just somewhere else, like just let me die lol. I don't think I could be happy even in heaven

But sometimes I do hope I could get reincarnated as someone else who could live a happy life and maybe I could live happily as them instead. A completely new person. I just hope wherever I go after I'm dead I don't have to carry any of my current feelings with me.

I hope my emotions die with me in this lifetime

I don't, I believe death to simply be non-existence, nothing more than an eternal dreamless sleep where this dreadful, torturous existence is finally all forgotten which is all I hope for, I just don't wish to exist and I never would do rather all I want is some peace, I just wish to be permanently free from this existence I always saw as a mistake.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I think it's probably a type of reincarnation (eternal return, eternal return with branches, rebirth into another being, possibly in another universe). My personal favorites are eternal return with branches and, as you mentioned, the ability to choose your next life yourself (although then I have no idea how I ended up in this life in the first place).

I watched a documenry on NDE's they all talk about a similar new found wisdom and peace they cannot explain with words. they all say it was pure contentment. science proves energy has to go somwhere it can't just disapear. plus mediums. I also believe in paraellel universes since the quantum micro chip was invented. There is also a brilliant movie which touches on the theory that we live out ever possible senario we could ever make. any decision we could ever choose we live it all, and once we doo then we see the end. But we observe time liniarlly and don't notice it of course. the movie is called "the Discovery"

I used to be soooo interested in Quantum Immortality ffs!! But ever since I decided to ctb, the thought just scares me to death (no pun intended)...

Has anyone heard of the "NDE wheel" story? Look it up. I'm pretty sure it's just some fictional story by a VERY creative writer (although many people claim to have witnessed the same thing), but it's such a good read either way

To answer OP: I was in a severe car crash many years ago. They had to resuscitate me due to critical blood loss. My skull was fractured and I had a concussion so bad that it took me weeks to walk again, plus well over 50 glass fragments all over my left shoulder and arm... And you know what I saw, in the time I was gone? Absolutely nothing. Not even blackness. All I can remember are two still images from shortly after the crash, almost as if I had taken screenshots from the memory. But that's all. No bright light, no dead relatives, no angels... and tbh, I think this is actually very comforting to me, now that my bus is arriving soon

This is just my personal experience though

I really do hope there's no "After".
Otherwise we're all apparently stuck in an "eternal" existence.
And that would suck.

A thought of mine has been that the afterlife you experience is the one you believe in the most. Like at the very end of your life, your mind will play a snapshot of what you expect Heaven/Hell, reincarnation or what have you, as your last memory.

I'm not religious now, but I've been heavily indoctrinated about Hell, specifically about how ctb will send you straight there. And while I don't actually believe in Hell, what if I've just been subconsciously convinced of its existence and in my last moment of consciousness my mind creates a snapshot of hell, that I perceive as eternal 😭 idk if that makes any sense whatsoever, but considering that people have had NDE's that confirm any and every possibility of afterlife out there, ones perception of what is supposed to happen must play some kind of role.
