Is it normal for gag reflex to be activated in choking? I don't think I can hang myself bc of it.

I think so because it presses on the oesophagus? Will hanging myself trigger the gag reflex too? I think hanging is scary bc all vids I watched of it, people freak out and grab the rope/cloth. At least it's only for 10s before passing out and 2-3 minutes till death but I wanna avoid scary feeling, pain and nausea.

If you're choking then you need to increase the height of the ligature to ensure it compressed the carotid artery which will be where you feel a pulse on your neck.

So if I hang myself correctly, I shouldn't feel nausea or survival instinct fear?
