I genuinely wish I never existed lol.

My dad begged my mom to have an abortion, he thought she was infertile and so did she because the doctor told her that her chance of conceiving was sub 1%

But because my mother is Filipino she just fucking had me anyway and I had to suffer from the peak of the worst types of black and southeast Asian parenting (even worse because my mom is from the provinces and province parents are known to be crazy)

I suck at living, I can't even dress myself properly. And because of this I have to figure out a way to CTB which is painful and insanely difficult and I'm scared of abandoning the relationships I've made.

I saw a post earlier about being born and how nobody consents to that. But i was just wondering what the general opinion on that is.

IMO i would have rather been born, than never existed. This is primarily because there have at least been a few joys in my life a long time ago, and at this point im glad i can just remember them, even if they were kinda small.

Idk i guess it just feels like you need suffering to experience joy, but because the ratio is way towards suffering i wanna CTB, but i still prefer that over having absolutely zero joy or suffering by not being born.

…What do yall think?

If I'd been born as attractive, into a wealthy family with good mental and physical health then no. If I was born as I am now, then 100% I'd prefer to just not exist.

In my opinion, yes. Even if one's life was like Buddha's before he awakened, suffering would eventually find them somewhere down the line. Suffering from the consenquences of old age is almost guaranteed, as well as the pain of losing family/friends/lovers to death. I certainly wish none of this ever happened, as I never asked for any of this.

Despite my suffering, I brought happiness and love into the world. That alone is worth it to me. Yes, my death will bring pain to those I love dearly. But I was afforded the opportunity to live a life that could bring that pain. Some days I wish I was never born, but when I truly think about it, my birth brought something to this world - as insignificant as it may be to the entirety of the universe. It meant something to people here and now.

Absolutely. I consider not suffering way more valuable than any amount of joy.

I definitely should have never been born. Dad was absent virtually my entire life, mom was and still is always abusive towards me. The rest of my family were also abusers.

This is literally what antinatalism is all about. I don't care what anyone says, I still believe this.

Would it be better if I were never born at all? Yes. Not existing is better than this bullshit.

Yes, I always said "I wish I was stillborn" since my childhood. It's not just that my misery has always outweighted my joy, the real reason is that I hate who I am. I hate myself.

I think people who are at peace with themselves have stronger bonds with life and more likely to find fullfilment by simply living it, even if their life is filled with misery and lacks happiness.

Same for me! I don't see life as something that's worth it. It sucks that there's no way the mind would let one be always comfortable, we would probably stop doing most of the things we do..

I also have some good memories, but I don't think they are worth all this suffering. If I wasn't born I wouldn't have to cbt and I my death wouldn't make anyone sad. But if I could choose to live first 13 years of my life and then die immediately I would preffer it. That way I would get the most good stuff of this life and the least suffering.

Objectively? There is no answer. Cus everyone life and mentality is different.

Personally speaking? Yes, unfortunately. I love life, I really do, but I hate my luck in it.

What percentage of us here who are suicidal will still be suicidal if their life was close to the ideal?

I think most people just hate "their" life, and not necessarily all life.

The answer should be no since if you can't get the chance to live you wouldn't even be able to question it in the first place or have a say in anything, so from a logical standpoint living is undeniably better. And the funny thing is everyone here is biased because your all living it's not like you don't exist rn so technically everyones opinions except the ones that don't exist are invalid and yes that means yours mines and everyones here are, but the short logical answer is Yes life is better then no life

Maybe, yes. I don't know if I'd say it's an absolute "yes" for everyone though - some people can go on to live very fulfilling and happy lives while facing minimal hardship, pain and struggle.

If I'm just thinking of myself though, I have often thought it probably would have been better had I have never existed.

I wish I wouldn't have been born into my circumstances. Some people should be punished to the fullest extent of the law for bringing children into dysfunction and abuse.

Haha this is a difficult paradox to discuss. If we hadn't been born, we wouldn't "know" if it's better than being alive. Aside from the absence of a conscious mind to think about the matter, we wouldn't be able to compare it to being alive.

I could counter this by saying that being alive is hell anyways and how not having an easy way out is making me feel worse by the day, which is why it would be optimal to never have been born at all, but I wasn't always suicidal. It's difficult to think outside of my own experience and feelings, especially while being on a forum with like-minded people, but there is a majority of people who do not feel depressed and suicidal, and probably experience living way differently. Even the people here have not always been suicidal, for example in the first few years of living.

It's basically impossible to give a definitive answer, since we can't actually define life as fundamentally bad, and if both are neutral, then it's not possible to say which is "better".
