Isn't Sam Harris who made that argument? Think I've heard somewhere before. There's no person/mind without the brain, which decomposes when you die. Everything about your mind can be damaged by damaging parts of the brain. You can cease to recognize faces, you can cease to know the names of vegetables, but still remember the names of tools... Damage one part of the brain and something about the mind is lost for good, damage another and yet more is lost... What do you think happens when the whole yucky thing is damaged at death? That some mysterious invisible you rises off the brain with all your faculties intact?
