Games Is Among Us dead/not popular anymore ?

wanted to make a profile post about this but I don't think anyone would interact with it if it were there (really didn't want to post it in the forum because it feels cringe/embarassing for some reason)
but I am trying to host a game of Among Us this coming Tuesday (for a friend) but there's only 2 of us and as far as I know their other friends don't want to join or don't have time to

I don't know what time + there's a chance they may call it off but if things work out I will just leave a link here in the future so then if anyone wants to join they can (for people who may watch or get notifs for this thread)

although I have a strong feeling the game is dead as I personally haven't played it since the end of quarantine

There is 6,542 people playing it on Steam right now. I never played it, so I don't know how hosting works there. Maybe there is an option to team up with your friend and enter another hosted game, or play with randoms, while having your friend in the same game as well. A game like that will have players for ages.

I played it a bunch in 2022-2023. Modders had lobbies anyone could join with custom game settings, and it was really fun. The game had a second wave of popularity because of this. Then, InnerSloth nerfed their ability to host easily, and a lot of people stopped again, including me. But, I've heard they started adding some of those mods into the game in an official capacity, so maybe it's good again, idk. Give it a test run and see what's new. I'd be delighted to hear about it.

that's what I was looking for originally as a solution and I thought they used to have that but I guess that got rid of it or it's been so long that I forgot how to make that happen

I might try that/try to look for that or see if that a thing
