Hey I wanna jump off the Brooklyn Bridge but it only has 135 ft of clearance over water.

I've heard a lot of figures about the proper height, but I want to hear it from here too.

Is 135 ft enough? Or am I better off trying a better spot/method? (Helium and NO exit bags sound good but I've had problems getting them.)

Not high enough. Please, please find something much higher. I believe the standard minimum for ctb is 10 stories.

You'll most likely drown or get hypothermia and then drown. There's always the Verazzano Narrows Bridge with a 228 ft drop.

I personally wouldn't jump from that low. Especially if you're hitting water. There is a chance that you will survive or suffer a great deal before drowning.

Are you only looking to land on water? Why not find a hotel room with balcony on a really high floor? That is assuming that you have funds to book a hotel room...

I wouldn't really want to make a huge mess on the ground.

The VNB sounds good. Preferably over water and somewhere close to NYC is best. I don't have a car and can't drive so my options are kinda limited.

Yeah, I would say you need to have anything more than 200 feet (the higher the better) especially if you are hitting water, but even then there is still a small chance you could survive with a lot of severe injuries and more suffering. As far as suicide nets, that doesn't stop the truly suicidal and only forces people to go to other bridges or resort to other "uglier" means of suicide. When I read articles about the suicide nets being installed, it just turns my guts as it's just fucking virtue signaling. I fear that someday all the reliable bridges may be suicide-proofed or at least made extremely difficult (more than now) to scale. Another reason why I'm going with the firearm. Sorry I went off on a tangent a bit to rant about the bridge.

Unless you live nearby, you need a car to access VNB... i'm not even sure there is a pedestrian walkway on that bridge. Weather will be really cold rest of the week, so if you happen to survive the fall, you'll die of hypothermia... but that sounds like an awful way to die and very painful.

You can also try the Williamsburg Bridge, there have been a few deaths recently with people jumping off that bridge. But walking over that bridge, I'm not sure there an easy access to jump off that bridge.

Well it has the same clearance as the Brooklyn Bridge. I might as well just do Brooklyn in that case.

My strat for the VNB might be to get a Lyft to drop me off on the bridge. From there I'm good.

Too suspicious and risky. I'm sure people know that the VNB is a likely suicide spot and a Lyft driver won't do it for liability reasons.

Do you live in NYC or near? I'm in NYC. Don't you think it'll be weird if you asked to dropped off in the middle of the bridge?

I'm a lyft driver. There's really not much we can/will do to prevent someone from getting out of our car.

Edit: Although yes if it's a busy area with nowhere to stop, we likely won't stop just for you.

So like, if I was to ask a driver to slow down/stop, could I pretty much just open the door and get out?

No... much much higher... it seems like it's impossible to jump from the GWB now

If they listen to you, yeah.

On the app, I can technically set the destination as the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, which puts the destination smack dab in the middle of the bridge.

Would a Lyft driver essentially have to comply? There's a space to pull over on the bridge and all. It's also explicitly what I demanded/paid for, so I feel like the driver would have little reason to argue with it, albeit they'd think it was weird.

The driver most certainly will ask why in the middle of the bridge... he is not just going to comply just because you set the destination. What answer will you give him? just assume the driver is not stupid and he'll probably be thinking this guy might jump from the bridge.
