in our history, humans have displayed reoccuring themes, and almost every generation has its own version of the same things. for example, something repeated would be hierarchy or thinking "people these days dont want to work!". can we ever break free of this? do you think the internet or current developments are something new for the human race? is there anything in the past that you believe diverges from usual human things that we have all adopted?

Biological continuity is repeated throughout all generations but the rise of unconventional erotism and degeneracy dissolutes this continuity due the excessive resources, it even becomes a form of sacredness.

The more you zoom out, the more reoccuring themes you get. The more specific you get, the more seemingly new things you get. The internet is new from one point of view. From the other, being social is a reoccuring theme, so the internet fits within that theme. People used to meet in cafes to discuss things they couldn't discuss elsewhere. Now we have forums on the internet to do that.

Mental health issues and suicides may seem new to some, but the topic of poetic suicides especially amongst artists has always been a trope in poetry and stories. Sometimes as a reaction to loss of love, or just being tired of life. Nothing is really new, it all just gets to get a new context to develop itself in.

I don't think that we can break free of this, because our human experience is so strictly based on certain things and experiences. For a long time, we humans are dependent on our parents, moreso than other animals. This leads us to be more connected to these memories of being cared for by them. Nostalgia sets in, and here we have the ultimate reocurring theme throughout every generation : The thought that it used to be better at some point earlier.

The rise of unconventional erotism and degeneracy doesn't dissolute the continuity in my opinion. Even in biblical stories there are depictions of the rise of these things, only to crumble and destroy itself (through Gods punishment in the books of course).

This degeneracy is in itself just continuity. One thing exists for a long time, and evolves into something evil and corrupt, then it breaks, and something else will take its place.

This is just life and death. Political systems just like humans. Empires, governments, plants. Everything continues and dies
