if it's not for everybody in my lifetime so I can benefit from it, then I could care less. I guess it's a positive thing that they are heading in the right direction, but if I still have to ctb with risks, it means nothing to me.
we are way more than frustrated - new words must be invented for what some of us here are feeling
i'm not frustrated - i completely lost all hope that i'll be able to get voluntary assisted dying. i'm like everyone else here: i will be forced to find my own peaceful exit (my research is in this thread:
Peaceful Suicide Methods)
so i'm not thinking of my self, but until we get what we want, i'm trying to speed up the process by creating two petitions, highlighted here:
do something (the first one is ongoing now: "
PETITION - is personal autonomy a fundamental right?", and i intend to make one more: "
PETITION - do you support voluntary euthanasia for terminally ill, in all countries?"). i'm hoping that i'll get 100% from everyone in this community
It's very unfortunate how it's not available for us all, but I hope that it manages to save some people from experiencing a more painful death.
sometimes i think that society is surreal: in 2023 we have to fight for
one of the most obvious rights: personal autonomy - this is fundamental to humanity !! sometimes i can't believe this reality - i want to escape this fucking jail that we call life. yet, i will continue to have to fight for this basic right: dignity
the way i see it is that all old politicians need to be replaced with open-minded young ones
there are other ways that will help to speed up this process:
- current politicians will be affected be the suffering of closed relatives - most likely
- current politicians will be affected be their own suffering - very likely, as well
- elimination of religious indoctrination by aging baby-boomers - very slow
- younger generations will replace religion with logic, scientific proof, and responsible reflection and introspection
all these will take a long time. this community will also help to speed up this process, but we have to do it legally
we need to avoid confrontation, or aggravate the rest of society, simply by asking for what everyone on this earth deserves: personal autonomy, and voluntary euthanasia for terminally ill - everyone in this world agrees to this: this is basic human compassion
if we pay attention to the the states that will adopt voluntary euthanasia in US, we will see this progress; a few years ago it started out with 3 states - now it's up to 9. when 50% of the states that will adopt it USA will have a majority (good chances to be at the level of federal government). UK will probably be slower, or at least perceived slower because the entire country will need to agree at the same time, but when this will happen, it will be within a year (max 2)
i had very low expectations for canada 20+ years ago, when Dr
Jack Kevorkian caused a huge controversy - my expectations for canada were extremely low ! i watched the fight for voluntary assisted dying in canada on the news, for years - i thought to myself: "this is an admirable fight, but it's simply a lost cause - i'm not going to hold my breath…"
what happened?! in 2016 canada introduced medical assistance in dying (
MAID), and in 2024 canada will be the first country in the world to include mental illness (mar 17, 2024) - this is huge: an open door to the entire world. and it took less than 10 years: now canada's society - including politicians and doctors - acknowledges that suffering exists
this will not help me at all - i will have to find nembutal, fentanyl, or nitrogen, and play roulette with my death: i call that the opposite of dignity! but i'm hoping that younger generations will not have to go through this torment
if these 2 PETITIONS will come out from our community, we will make a positive impact in our society!
good, can they unlock SaSu from the country while theyre at it?
lol :) (didn't know it was locked down there - i hope they will)
I always get worried about the elderly and sick people who would like to live, feeling pushed into this...
i will continue this fight until all countries in the world will allow voluntary euthanasia (it will probably happen after my death, so i'm trying to be realistic)
