I’m not scared to die, i’m scared to die as a failure

I don't want to die having done nothing important in my life. I am planning to kill myself but I want to do something to help others before I do.

What is something I can do to help as much people as possible? (Other than donating to charity cause I'm broke)

Do you know of any local volunteering opportunities? There are a lot of organizations that need extra help (food banks, donation centers, environmental cleanup groups, etc.) but that's dependent on where you are located. Volunteering is a really good way to help out communities, and you leave a positive impact when doing so. I hope you find something that you'd like to try!

Why should what you have done matter? The queen and a homeless man were both equals when they passsed over. Everything they ever owned and achieved is no longer usable by them.

You don't actually know whether you have done anything important or not. You may have influenced people in ways you know nothing about, About a year ago, I heard, quite by chance, from a the daughter of a man close to death, that I had had a big influence on this man's friend 30 years ago. I remember meeting his friend, a nice guy who took me and my husband out for a day on his boat, but that was the only time I ever met him and I had no idea at all that I had influenced him. And were it not for the fact that this guy had mentioned it to someone else, who happened to pass on the message to his own daugther when he was dying, and that she decided to pass it on to me, I would never have known. You must have met hundreds of people in your own life, and you really have no idea what effect you have had on most of them. It can go the other way too. What someone thinks of as his great achievement might turn out, in the long run, to have been such a disaster that it would have been better if that person had never lived. (The names Hilary Koprowski and Paul Osterreith come to mind here.) The world is too big and too complicated for it to be worth worrying about matters like that. In the meantime, if you want to try to do someting useful, the suggestion above by lotus-flowers is probably as good a suggstion as you are likely to get.

Unfortunately only help people want is some form of financial gain. Truth of the matter is most of us will be nothing and do nothing significant in this world. I guess for me I rest assure knowing nothing really matters after I die.

Naturally, as humans, we want more no matter where we are in life. Why do billionaires want more billions? It's not like they need them. The truth is, especially for depressed people, we will generally feel like failures (even if this is not true!). If you want to get rid of that feeling for a bit, maybe try helping out your local community by volunteering at a homeless shelter or a food bank, something that'll create a direct positive impact on people. Yet, bear in mind that the reality is, in the end, we are all equal in death, "failures" or otherwise.
