• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Technically people could do a citizen's arrest and use reasonable force to restrain you. even if the reason is a bit bogus they will never be prosecuted because they stopped you from cbting

Wow! People actually spend their time wandering around the beach waiting to stop other people from ctbing?! Don't they have lives of their own, or family of their own whose lives they could interfere in?! What right do they have interfering in a complete stranger's life? Whatever happened to people minding their own damn business?!

It'd be hilarious if do-gooders toppled down the bridge. Oops.

its a tricky one though, cos I know us folk might find it hard to believe/ understand-some people ARE glad to be be stopped in those moments-they are having a spell of despair and can be greatful someone intervened at that time-and till that moment of desperation passed. Funny though they never came up to me when I was up there-clearly v distraught-but I was just to chicken shit to do it, so close-yet so far

I went there, SI's kicked in when I looked down. The sight to me was breathtaking and I couldn't physically throw myself off, too worried about somehow surviving it and ending up a vegtable. But I couldn't' go home as I believed I was in a lot of trouble with the police and I would be going to jail. So to try and remedy this stalemate, with my brain not taking the decision,I got right to the edge and stood on one leg hoping the wind would do the job I could not. leant right over the edge as well. All I succeeded in doing was making a right spectacle of myself and it attracted the bible bashers first. I refused to talk to them and then the police turned up and I refused to talk to them as well. I was waiting for my one leg to get tired and I would overbalance.

Then one of the cops had this I think genius Idea, he decided to gulilt trip me and said I was putting them all at risk. I stopped leaning over the edge and turned and start arguing with him. while we were shouting at each other some other cops came from behind and jumped on me ,I struggled for a while but I think because of the length of time I had been up there, I was numb, cold, hungry and dehydrated. The fight left me. and I was lead down the hill to the pub car park. I was given a hot drink and to be honest the police were alright after . We all relaxed And I was transported to the police station for a mental health act assessment. I was then taken to a crisis house in eastbourne . Before they left the woman police constable hugged me, and wished me luck .

Can they actually stop you?
I don't think they can, it is a very wide territory. Impossible to have it completely controlled.

Why did you abort the SN route, was it painfull or distressing?

How hard is the landing surface at the bottom of the cliff? Is it sand or rocks? I certainly wouldn't want to land on sand and be the only person to survive beachy head.

I had a very similar experience to @hypo666. I was dealt with by an amazing female police officer, maybe the same one. Looking over the edge was dizzying and I couldn't do it, even after half a bottle of vodka. I was so cold I could barely move after a while.

It's rocks. And apparently some people have survived by jumping and landing on rocky ledges before they hit the ground. you need to find a place there with no ledges and a straight drop. And scouting it out means there is a risk the chaplains will spot you and phone the police.

You will probably hit more cliff at the bottom that sticks out. It's 500 feet so sand wouldn't save you

Thanks for the replies.

I saw in a video on YouTube that around the area of the lighthouse there's a cliff wall that can be a good enough location for the jump.

hypo66, have you ever heard of a failed suicide attempt specifically in heady beach?

If you walk a bit along the coast, any of the seven sisters are high enough and there are less god squads away from BH

Somebody named Martin Hinchcliffe once survived because he got caught by a ledge just 35 feet below.

Wow, poor boy. He was just 15 at the time. He wasn't found for several days. Sucked on rocks to stay hydrated.

I might be the only one , I could be wrong but at the bottom of beach heads cliff is there a soft bottom, i see sand. Most likely if you jump you will land on the sand with pain but none fatal, what will you do then ?

Yeah, this is what worries me too. But some places seem to be rocky, like in this image from Wikipedia:

Here's my photo from the edge. Believe me you won't survive that fall. Around 500ft onto a hard landing.

Yeah, there's no way you'd survive it. It's not soft sand, it's rocks. By the way, the chaplains aren't a 'god squad', they didn't say a word to me about god and were extremely kind. When I agreed to step away from the edge one of them hugged me and they gave me a hot drink - I was freezing. A lot of people go to Beachy Head when they're in distress and they do a brilliant, unpaid job of offering comfort. They'd clocked me from the moment I arrived, knew where I'd parked, my car, my registration. They didn't force me to step away from the edge, I chose not to jump. Respect to them.
