If people have workable circumstances to begin with, then effort can overcome problems. In many ways, this is how life should be. People love the drama of overcoming adversity.

However, through trial and error, it becomes clear that not everyone has workable circumstances.

People who don't understand think the solution is something external, something that can be changed in one's life or circumstances. People never acknowledge the possibility that when the suffering has pervasive, treatment-resistant internal causes, perhaps the solution is to take oneself out of the picture.
