Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

If God doesn't exist and this universe has no meaning , everything is nihilistic , then why we have sense of deeper meaning , philosophy , a sense of need for belonging and empathy? Why? I wish I didn't have any of this. Just like simple organisms , I wish I had a simple nervous system that only recognized hot, and cold

Why?

I share the same sentiment, evolution fucked us over with this one tbh. If we were simpler we'd just try to survive and die without all the bullshit that comes with consciousness, and it's extremely hard to decouple oneself from this even when you know the facts that our lives are built on illusions we assign deeper meaning to.

Most of these things allow you to set and work towards long-term goals, build a strong social circle, protect your family and community, etc. This has helped us carry our genes forward for hundreds of thousands of years, which is why it was evolutionary selected for.
Some other things could also be accidental. For example, the ability to engage in philosophical thought probably doesn't carry a meaningful evolutionary advantage. It's likely that it is simply a byproduct of our ability for high-order abstract reasoning, which is primarily useful for other things (such as maintaining complex social relationships). At the same time, it doesn't really have any major downsides, so there was no evolutionary pressure to get rid of this ability

It seems without God and an afterlife there likely is no meaning. Which, as you say, doesn't add up. There must be something. But then why this pain?
He must be there. I don't understand anything beyond that anymore
