Greetings,

apologies for just putting myself on the platter out in the open here. But after all, that is what this vent category is for, no?

As the title suggests, you are about to hear a story. I will attempt to make it short as it was very lengthy.

My entire life I've only had one person I would actually call friend. I met her in 2016. I truly appreciated she took the time to see who I really am. However, my dear friend received a painful and draining type of cancer diagnosis one day in 2016. She lived until 2023 after that, however, it was extremely painful for her. You could see it in her face. She received all sorts of other illnesses from it all as well. Went through the entire program.

''Sergeant45, how could you say you wish your friend did ctb?'' I know. It may sound macabre to the outsider. But had assisted suicide been actually legal during those 7 years of her suffering, her last years wouldn't have been a true hell on this planet. I do recall that it is legal to a degree here, but it is incredibly difficult to have such requests approved. She was a very young adult, and if terminally ill elderly people already have hard time being approved for assisted ctb here, I'm sure you can imagine how many doctors would have believed my friend. She was a minor for most of her illness too.

It does make me angry to this day that big pharma industry will rather have you suffer than to truly help you once and for all. It didn't matter to them that her illnesses were terminal. But I also know that I need to move on. I do think I've moved on for the most part, but I of course do still think about her every once in a while. I don't know, guys.

Thanks all who read this.

Regards

I don't think it's macabre—you don't wish that she had gone through the suffering that would make a person take their own life, you wish she could have alleviated some of the suffering she was already experiencing.

Oftentimes, society's rabid obsession with anti-mortalism leads us to do what we would otherwise consider inhumane. When we hunt animals for food, we don't kill them in a way that prolongs their death for hours, we make it as quick as possible. Yet, when a person is guaranteed death, we force them to endure it for however long it lasts. It's cruelty, plain and simple. I'm sorry you had to witness that, and I'm sorry for your loss. đź«‚

And it's only natural to think about her every once in a while. It's how we honor the people who've passed.

I was in a bit of a different situation recently. A friend I knew actually took the bus because of her illness. Sometimes I wish it hadn't succeeded, I wish she was still around. But in my heart of hearts, I know that it's a good thing. If she had lived, she would have been trapped in an unending, unyielding nightmare. Bless her and hope the universe takes care of her.

I wish the same for you and your friend as well.
