Yea I am like this too. People say I shouldn't feel this way but I can't help it and feel like this needed so I can prepare or prevent something worse from happening. I feel like my tolerance for stress and mental pain is destroyed.

Can relate. On bad days I get triggered by any and everything my family says. Special mention goes to traumatic invalidation when I bring up painful memories that I seemingly am unable to just "get over". Not only, but also using the opportunity to put themselves on a pedestal, priding themselves in being able to "let go", "tough it out" and "face life as it is".

I feel the same. I can probably recall every insult/ criticism I've ever received. I remember watching an interview with an actress once. They asked her about her response towards criticism and she replied that she felt like she had a layer less of skin to others. That negative comments really hurt her. Obviously, it's not a great way to be in this world but, it's hard to be what we're not.

One thing that has helped is age. It was so much worse when I was young. Plus, avoiding people wherever possible. Although, that's obviously not the healthiest solution.

I used to care about what people say to me when I was younger , but now my biggest enemy is my mental illness and my over all health if it wasn't for that I wouldn't be in this situation ( wanting to ctb )
