I didn't expect things to change so quickly. The city felt really unfamiliar, and I didn't have much information to go on, so trying something new felt tough. On top of that, the firm rejections from store employees really discouraged me.

I only visited Lima and didn't expect to fail in reaching my goal. I won't visit South America again until I find a reliable source. If I get another chance to go, I'll do better research and take a test kit.

I would recommend cities that are not Lima nor Cuzco probably. Non super touristic cities where they are not used to seeing foreigners coming in to ask for this.

1. If I'd known about this site before my trip, I might have considered trying other cities.
2. I also tried visiting two nearby shops that weren't listed on PPH, but they turned me away right away, so I figured getting N in Lima is just not possible.

Lima's reputation as a tourist city made it feel easier for me to consider. If I could go with someone I trust, I might be open to visiting other cities, but going alone would probably take some extra courage for me. For now, I plan to gather information and keep an eye on things on this site.

Even the perception of you being a foreigner would likely give you this result. Perhaps paying a local to buy may have yielded better results if there are no local, state or regional laws in place.
