Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Everything hurts

After 4 years of studying a computer science degree that should take 3 years I had to quit being a full-time student and move back to my hometown. I absolutely hate living here it almost feels like being in prison. I miss all my friends and I msis going out to social events. I feel like I have no future because I'm likely unemployable. I just don't know what to do anymore. I miss my friends so much. If they ever were friends, just people who knew me but I never got invited to anything. I've started to feel like my death is imminent again, as if I've accepted that I'll die from suicide.

I just don't know what to do anymore and everything is confusing and hurting.

The comparison with prison is pretty accurate. The sudden and sometimes unexpected change of environments such as going in the army, going to prison, or even returning home can be a real shock. However, these sort of changes can be survivable. For example, people who have to live with people they are not comfortable with can sometimes get a second shift job and thus have to be away from the house when the others are there. Thee trick is to discover ways to manage the situation to give yourself the greatest amount of control over your life you can.

Once you can achieve a sustainable routine, you can work on exploring other options that will still give you greater control. One key is to not let resentment build. This can be a sort of prison on its own.
