I am sorry to hear this.
Something that I believe, though, is that it's detrimental to buy into the notion that the qualities that make you different are weaknesses. This couldn't be further from the truth. Wanting to be accepted by the majority is perhaps an instinctive desire for people, but I find that the most peaceful among us are those for whom conforming to what is considered "conventional" holds little to no value. It is best to be yourself and prosper in ways that only you can. It's difficult to adopt this attitude -- I very much understand that -- but from my point of view, it's not only powerful; it's necessary.
