I have no one else to tell about this, so I thought I'd share it with you fine folks. Today I bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum, a gun so powerful it can (apparently) be used to kill grizzly bears. Anytime I want to, I can point its barrel in my mouth and pull the trigger. I feel an incredible sense of relief and empowerment right now. From now on, every day is a day I am only alive because I choose to be. For the first time in my life, I feel free.

Agreed, this is why I have also taken the time to study the proper angle to aim in the mouth, and why I'll be sure to use hollow point bullets. Anyone considering a gun suicide should take the time to read the firearms megathread.

Gunshot is my main method except I will use either a 20, 12ga or a 7mm-08. I feel extremely confident with all 3 of them, just have to make up my mind.

My understanding, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that recoil doesn't really matter in a gunshot-to-mouth suicide. By the time the recoil begins, the bullet has already left the gun and is on its way to blasting me to smithereens. So whatever recoil my body experiences won't interfere with the path the bullet takes into my skull. That said, I will still practice firing it at a range before I ever turn it on myself, because I think it'd just be stupid not to.

I imagine it must be incredibly freeing to have a reliable suicide method. I have a theory that most suicidal people are even more suicidal because they have no way out, no reliable method. There was actually a study done that stated lethal means actually decreased suicidal actions/thoughts. Your gun sounds awesome, Taxi Driver is a great film.

Recoil happens after the bullet is fired. It matters if you aiming at a target to shoot multiple times. Makes no difference for CTB if only one bullet is fired.

Update: after a long back-and-forth involving background checks and waiting periods, the gun is now actually in my possession. Today I practiced dry firing, and also learned how to remove and reattach the cartridge cylinder, among other things - I took the time to read the full official instruction manual. I now feel 100% confident in my ability to eventually load and fire this weapon. I hope this doesn't sound like bragging, but it's an awesome feeling to know that I can easily CTB at any time. This has given me the confidence to take risks and pursue whatever I want to in this life, because if the risks fail and damage me, I can always go to my Plan B: a .44 magnum revolver that I have total faith in.

But...

My advice is -- when and if the time comes -- CTB by SN. After you have drunk the SN, then use the gun. This will be doubly-effective. Let's see a prolife motherfucker try to revive you from THAT! Why can't they respect that it's our body, our choice? We can abort babies in the womb without their consent, but we can't consent ourselves?!
