first of all, i want to introduce my situation. I m 22 years pls i have struggled with depression and anxiety for all my life. Last year my brother killed himself and left me with an empy soul. After that my life that was already depressing became unlivable. I don't have any reason to stay on this planet and despite all my effort to try and change my life even (with help from others) for the better it just became worst by the day. I have been thinking to ctb for a long time but all the methods are either too risky or not doable in my country. So i came up with a "plan" in my head. I have an house in the country side with a pretty big pool. My grandma used to stay there but now she moved and i have complete access to the house. I was thinking that i could just throw some heavy weight down tie myself to them and i would 100% not be able to swim back up, or maybe even tie myself up to the bottom of the pool. The only problem is that i m scared that if I tie myself with something not strong enough it may break. do you have any advice? do you think this is a good method?

(I know drowning is very painful but at this point i don't really care as long as the method works)

I don't know much about drowning so I can't advice you. But the thread linked above shares a study on how survivors of a drowning accident describe their drowning experience. Maybe it's of use to you.

I also post because I notice your username and want to share the moral of that story (see spoiler). Also for anyone else who watched that series, or has 2 spare hours to watch it.

My condolences.

Do NOT read the spoiler below if you have not watched the series yet.

Moral of the series Over The Garden Wall
Some viewers contend that the […] story is a hallucination — something the brothers collectively experienced while drowning.

As the woods die, Wirt resigns himself to never escaping the Unknown. The Beast, which embodies giving in, feeds on that exhaustion and despair. […] Most chapters see the brothers helping other lost souls find peace or contentment by resolving their problems.

Instead of giving in to the Beast — that thing that lurks inside us all and tells us to give into despair and stop fighting — Wirt chooses to look at what frightens him most […] and pulls back the curtain.

Have you tested anything yet regarding whether drowning truly is that painful or not?
u are the guy that argued about the thumb blowing method, i ve tried your method and it's not working on me. from my research drowning is very painful in basically all the situation except if you are able to collapse underwater fast

@overthegard3nwall I REALLY hope you didn't go through with it yet. It's so cool that you're a fan of the show! I am too and as a writer I am such a HUGE FAN of the beast. He is one of the most terrifying and well written villains I'VE EVER SEEN. he's influenced my writing A LOT and I have a villain in my own book series I'm writing who acts just like him or very similarly… :(.

thank you for your concern my friend, (un)fortunately i am still alive, i had to postpone couse i really needed to come back to the city to manage some personal and family stuff. i have decided to give myself some time couse yesterday i saw my grandpa for the first time after 3 months and i nearly started crying when i hugged her, from there i started thinking about my suicidal in a strange way and i am now terrified everytime i immagine the scene or test a method. i'll keep you updated i really want to stay active on here and maybe if i decide to try and recover again i can get a lot of help from here, even tho after all the times i tried recovery seems pointless.

Yeah man I'm sorry if it didn't work for you. Have you tried inhaling an inert gas in order to make yourself pass out?

I would really advise against using weights. Like you said, drowning can be painful. If you ever regret your choice, you won't have a way to come back up and your last seconds will be agonising.

i'm not encouraging you to ctb, but if you are deadset on it, you could look up hyperventilation. It allows you to delay the pain and reduce it. You will pass out with less pain and drown. Some people manage to pass out without any pain at all, but this seems harder than it looks. I have tried hyperventilating 10 minutes straight and still couldn't hold my breath until I pass out.

I'm sorry you are going through this, and I wish I had a private pool all for myself. I would experiment a lot.

thank you for the reply. i know drowning can be one of the most painful experience ever, i also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks so 100% i would have one while i m drowning, but like i said if i ever attempt i want to be sure i just die despite it being painful, i just want to be sure i don't reamerge and by using weights and tie myself i m sure i won't. i have looked into hyperventilating and it's for sure a valid method but it is very hard to achieve.i actually have find a way to tie myself to the weights, but currently i m not in my countryside home and i m dealing with other stuff in my life that are actually keeping me away from ctb thought, i also had an experience with my grandpa that had me doubt if i'm really sure i want to die now, even tho i m still suffering daily from lots of things and i i'm still sure i want to stop existing

what do you mean by inert gas? i have tried hyperventilating and inhaling deodorant, i felt very dizzy but it did not made me pass out

Can you give some links to the sources that describe drowning as very painful?
