under the chances i get rescued im curious if anyone would know of a way to prevent frostbite? i want to kill myself not loose limbs.
im also curious how long it takes for hypothermia to set in. im literally right on the line of being under weight so it shouldnt be as long for me (and im basically always freezing anyway). i just question if this is maybe something i could pull off by leaving the shower on cold and opening a window so it gets colder?

I had found this thread a while ago that has useful information https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/hypothermia-theory.54816/

I'm also considering this method. Right now my biggest obstacle is finding a place where I won't be found for as long as possible

I wonder if undressing selectively (when doing this method outside) would help avoid frostbite. Only undress upper body to expose vital organs but keep fingers, face, crotch, etc. warm. The mechanism of hypothermia is organs losing heat, slowing down their function and eventually stopping which results in death, so there's no need to freeze our fingers, nose, ears, etc.

this is exactly what i was thinking. gloves, thick socks, hat. and then a thin long sleeve shirt and leggings
edit: maybe not leggings. its not like theres any vital organs there im trying to kill. making them freeze seems pointless

I doubt it. Some of it depends on whether you have health conditions, though. Even in the coldest period of Winter, the water coming out of your pipes is likely to be in the 50 degree Fahrenheit range. Most people who get hypothermia get it from being in much colder water, like in the 40 degree range, and for some period of time. Hypothermia sets in after you get cold and STAY cold. You'd have to stay in a cold shower for who knows how long to get your core body temperature to even drop a degree or so. It would be difficult. Maybe not impossible per say, but very hard. At some point in time, you'd also have to start battling SI from your body that would want to force you to get out of the cold shower. If you really want to CTB by hypothermia, go find a cold pond or lake and jump into that, far enough out so that were unable to swim to shore.

When I tried with hypothermia I dipped myself in a river first on the coldest day of the year. The water then froze on me which was highly effective. I was found, however, when my blood temperature was eighty five degrees after only fifteen minutes to a half hour exposure after plunging myself into the river. Bad part was I was also walking half barefoot and I froze my left foot in the process to the point where at the hospital they thought they would have to amputate my leg at the knee. Fortunately this did not happen as circulation returned to my foot after a night in the ICU. That would have been a bitch.
