In some countries it´s not easy to get helium or nitrogen in the required purity. Also the connections are different in many countries. So you need a different adapter, which is not always easy to find.

Yes, hypoxia will kill in minutes and so brain damage will happen quickly (1-3 minutes). If you are found before death and "saved" there is a high chance of brain damage. You really have one shot, so please do your research!
