I am struggling so much to wake up/attend my job. I just feel like I can't do it. There's a massive mental block and I don't know how to overcome it. Really, really need help with this.

You tried waking up earlier to do something fun then go to work?

I know I got a different situation, but when I used to go to school I hated it a lot. One thing I did that made going there feel tolerable was waking up early to do something that I enjoyed at that time. I played a couple games, listened to music, and then packed up to go. The feeling would still be there but it won't be as bad as just waking up then getting ready to go immediately.

Waking up and having something to look forward to is always great.

Do you generally have trouble waking up, or is it only when you have to get up early? Back when I had to wake up at 4 a.m., I used to go for a 2–4 km run around 7 p.m. (depending on how much energy I had). By the time I got home, I was completely exhausted and would fall asleep almost instantly. Maybe that could help you too.

I have trouble falling asleep at night. And I have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. Not just waking up but motivating myself to leave bed.

Well it's definitely worth trying running or some other form of exercise. It worked for me and for people I know. But waking up is a whole different story—it's awful. The only thing that gets me out of bed is my dog scratching my back. I can't help you with that one.

Hey, hurts. Sorry you're having trouble with sleep. Yeah I agree with trying some form exercise so you get so tired, you'll have no choice but to fall asleep. OR CHORES. CHORES ALWAYS DO IT. I try to fold some clothes and halfway I start to feel "You know what? Fuck this" and go straight to bed LOL

And do you have a sleep routine? What makes you feel relaxed?
When I started to work nights, I had a great deal of trouble falling asleep during the day so I would unintentionally doze off during the first weeks of training. I was so embarrassed.
I know that's not the same but what helped me during that time was building a relaxation routine. Things that make you feel the comfiest.
It's different for everyone so you will have to experiment.
Like for me, I discovered taking a shower before sleep helps me get into the cozy sleepy mood.
Absolutely no talking to people tbh, especially online, because it disrupts the sleepy feeling. I don't look at my messages at all anymore when it's my target bedtime. And even when I do, I don't answer if it's not urgent.
No clutter on the bed. Absolutely just my pillows and blanket.
For my sister, she discovered playing white noise in the background helps. There are playlists for this.

As for getting out of bed, I'm afraid I have no practical suggestions either because I've just been thugging it out.
I was like you last week and I even had to call in sick but for days when I did go to work, I just kept thinking to myself I really needed the money. ;-;
Getting paid is the only motivation I can share.

With a smile on my face, my boss is rly nice, I talked about mindfulness and she put a paper of it on the wall at our work! It's my "little" happy place, it's the only thing that rly gives me meaning, I feel so valued when I help out :)

Yeah, shit sucks. Long shift + long commute is like groundhogs day. "Oh, I'm back here again."

I'm sorry you have to go through this.

Perhaps your natural sleep/wake schedule is different? On top of that if you have to sth you don't enjoy waking is even harder. Do you sleep longer on weekends/free days?
