how do i get out of this loop between wanting to stay and wanting to ctb, its in phases where i want to choose recovery, work on it, but then something happens that pushes me over the edge and i'm right where i was before

its like taking one step forward in life when you want to recover, but you are set back by two steps because of a tragic event

Maybe you can think of them as two separate paths. So when you make progress in your recovery, it is just on that path. Even if you sometimes walk and make progress on the ctb path, you can switch back to the recovery path and your progress will still be there.

I'm not sure if it will help. I'm sorry you're struggling with this constant switch. I feel the same sometimes and it is very tiring. I wish you the best.

I relate my life always like I am taking two steps toward to CTB and then one step back. I just crave the idea of finally getting to the point of stepping off the chair is two steps ahead and there is no possibility of a step back
