I live alone in a foreign country. I don't have any friends here. I've never filled in any emergency contact number either. If I'm found dead in my house, how would the rest of the investigation look like? What happens if they can't find any friend or family to contact? I'd much rather have them believe I ran away and started a new life than have them know I'm no longer here.

It would probably depend to a large extent which particular "foreign country" you were in.
in the UK the procedure for sudden or unexplained deaths varies slightly between Scotland and England/Wales.
In general terms, however, the Police would be involved in the initial instance. Fingerprints & DNA would be taken and retained, together with any physical details which may indicate your country of origin (think for instance of the type of material used for dental fillings or replacement teeth).
It is likely that a report would be filed with Interpol to be checked with present or future missing person reports.
