How do you know when it’s time to CTB?

I've been thinking of this on & off since I was a kid. But now it's getting serious. I don't have an exact plan but am trying to find a source of SN as it's hard to find in Australia.
How to you know it's time? Is it cruel to leave your family behind? What about my dogs?
I'm so sick of being in pain I just want to be free but I don't want to break my family.

Suicide always comes too late. You already did the suffering that its supposed to prevent. So there isn't a "right time" at all. As for your family you are just going to have to accept that they will be devastated. No way around that. Your dogs will be upset from time to time but dogs tend to live in the moment. So you can take heart in the fact that they will probably be the best adjusted amongst your family.
