  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

After my partner passed away that fateful day I was driven to SI, in my grief I spent most of my bereavement planning and researching on how CTB in a way that I feel works for me. I'm still soul searching personally, but my mind is all but made up.

I remember watching tantacrul's YouTube video, and feeling unlike how he and the comments were saying. I felt like the view was unfair in some ways, overly critical where I felt like if I went, I might find some people who shared the same thoughts as I did. And I did go here then, but that was a couple of years ago, and my life went up more in smoke, so I decided to stop being a guest lurker.

I had never known a forum such as this existed. Over the years, I had been deeply depressed and have thought about different ways to CTB, mainly by use of herbs such as poison hemlock, which grows everywhere around here! 😂 during a "lets read" podcast I had heard of Sanctioned Suicide, and grateful to have found this supportive community! There is no other place like it.

It looks like Tantacrul's video had the opposite effect judging by the poll. I think that's a good thing since this place isn't bad it's either you get it or you don't.

I think I heard about it in connection with the PPH. Being able to read and post here has helped me a lot and the people who are against the site don't understand what it is about.

I think I'd initially heard about it in a Youtube video that used just the initials of the site. I really like forums, (though didn't grow up with them), and found this place while googling around for 'suicide forums' in hopes of finding somewhere where people who could relate might congregate, since the video tipped me off on the existence of such a spot somewhere on the internet.

yup, that's the Tantracrul video! ^_^ It's ironic how he's directly responsible for 40% of the members here~ xD I hope you find comfort while you're here~ :)

Thanks, you as well. That's very kind of you to say. It is ironic, but also sort of pleasant, in a way, I think- that people who might've felt alone in grappling with their suicidality could find some sort of community, given how often ostracization and isolation feeds into ideation. Hopefully some of those ~40% who wandered on here from that lead can find similar comfort too.

I was reading and posting a little on r/suicidewatch but found it shallow and annoying, with stupid rules. I remembered reading a pro-choice forum with methods back in like the 00s and tried to find it by googling "pro-suicide forum". I don't think the site I was thinking of exists anymore but I found a bbc article which made it easy to google sasu so here I am.

Similar experience here. I was so fed up with being unsupported by basically every suicide resource that I wanted to find a forum that was at least pro choice. I don't remember exactly what specifically gave me the sight name but given all of the negative media attention, I can't help but think one of those lovely articles led me to also googling 'sasu' and going down a rabbit hole into this lovely community. And it is a lovely community. Despite its many flaws, I feel safer here with some of my deeper thoughts than I do on pretty much any other resource. And especially more than the involuntarily hospitalizing suicide hotlines for whom trying to seek help for me was nearly equivalent to a form of self harm given how little I could trust them. How else was I supposed to respond? Suicidal people can smell uncaring pro-life bullshit from a mile away. I think it was quite reasonable for me to want to seek out the perspective of other suicidal people instead.

I frequented r/SuicideWatch and r/Depression pretty often before I found this forum. I found this forum by being very bored one day, clicking the "Random Site" button on an obscure search engine until I found a website that archived an old website related to alt.suicide.holiday (a.s.h). I went down a rabbit hole learning about a.s.h and found a link to this forum which was described as a more modern version of what a.s.h was.

I was looking for pro-ana sites and kept getting news articles about a banned website that helps people kill themselves in Canada. So I was like okay, I'll join. Took forever for me to find an actual journalist who mentioned the name of this site.

Seems like everyone mostly found out via YouTube (never heard of that guy). I literally had to search for like 2 hours.

I browsed r/SanctionedSuicide. It got banned, I forgot about it and found this forum from googling the name out of curiosity.
