Gool ol' BBC back in 2022 or 23? the website was locked to members only at the time and I was super nervous so i just bookmarked the website for a later date as a "just in case" thing and eventually decided to join. They gave the acronym "ss" so i just looked up "ss suicide website" and I think it was the first result.

A while back I saw Tantacrul's video on this site but I didn't know the actual name of it. Some time later, I was looking up ways to CTB and then I found some thread on Quora or something and it mentioned this site, and I found the site. I mostly lurk though.
Sometimes I play Tantacrul's video in the background, with it being a bit ironic he's telling me to get off the site because it's a 'cult' or whatever while I'm scrolling around on this site.

Initially, the Tantacrul video, I didn't know a place like this existed, nor did I know the name. And I then promptly forgot about it. A couple of months later, after a fit of mania from Schoolwork and life-related stressors, I went looking for the name and found a Quora/Reddit post that told the actual name.
I went here to find safe, reliable ways to CBT, and to vent about my issues.

Looking back at the Tantacrul video, he definitely overplayed and exaggerated parts of the site, like any site. Sure, there are bad actors, but at the end of the day, a sanctuary for people who are suffering is needed, and to get rid of it would honestly cause more loneliness, and Reckless CBT

Reddit, of all places. I started getting into r/breakups a couple of months after she broke-up with me, then I found out about r/suicidewatch. I don't remember how the conversation went, but someone said something along the lines of "We're not THAT website where people openly talk about methods", I asked, was given a few hints, half an hour of Google later I found my way here. Funny thing is several people DMed me on Reddit asking about the website and I gave them the link so maybe they found it too.

Also a comment in r/suicidewatch in my case. Someone was asking about the feasibility of a method, and a comment hinted around the url for this website in such a way that I could piece it together.

It does come up in Google searches if you're specific enough. I found it accidentally the first time a few months ago, can't remember how... but once I knew it existed, searching by name works if you forget to bookmark the link.

I'm not really sure, tbh. I just remember stumbling upon the acronym CTB in the fall of 2023, and wondering what that meant… somehow, I had found my way here.

Google. It was 5 years ago so I forgot how exactly, but I remember searching for methods back then.

I'm surprised and concerned (because of what it means for minors) that 5 years later, despite all the attention the site's been getting from regulators, it's still indexed, which means the news articles end up sending people to this site. They must have thought of this, so I suspect they don't actually care about the ethics as long as they have a story to publish.

When my best friend committed suicide, at his funeral, his mother told me he mentioned this site. So came here looking for his posts. Ended up concluding he never posted, just lurked. Stayed to try to understand him better through others here.

Well, I had a particularly bad day at work and was searching about suicide on the internet when I stumbled on the Wikipedia page for this forum. Since I was desperate I just signed up, writing up a good reason for entering (Which is needed here, and I think it's a good thing.) and then waiting for approval.

When it actually got approved days later I kinda lost that suicidal wave, but I know more are to come, so I'm glad I did sign up before the worst happens. I don't go well with communities. I tend to become increasingly erratic and demanding, which of course is bad for any community and usually makes me flee it in shame, and if it comes to that here then it's okay, at least I tried again.

Suicide is something that the great majority of people that aren't suicidal don't understand. It's very complex and changes from people to people. I like to think that at least here people know what I'm going through in general and will be kind to me. People keep saying the internet is not a good place to get support from, and to some extent I do agree, but it is becoming increasingly harder to get any semblance of a support network IRL for me, things aren't improving and I feel even more helpless and scared.

I do hope here becomes a place where I can feel good about coming and checking. Maybe make a few friends. Maybe even be a turning point in my life? Well, one can dream, although my expectations are always way off reality. Anyway, I thank you for taking the effort to read and understand what I wrote. Seems little but every little thing helps.

As odd as it sounds... Youtube lol. Let me explain, so there was some video done about this site (i have reasons to believe it was this site) and how some teenager who took his life was useing the forum talking about methods etc. First time I watched the video I thought it was horrible, but moved on with my life and forgot. It was only after I started to sh which lead to my depression which lead to some suicidal ideation that I rediscovered the video, and googled in some sort of special phrase ( I don't remember what i googled) or tbh it could have been on a different engine (i.e. duck duck go, brave)

And the rest is history I guess...

This literally happened to me. I watched the video and thought "wow this site is awful"....and then shit hit the fan and I started searching for it.

Why would a website where people feel safer about their existence be awful? We are here because society and their institutions failed to provide us with resources to fight the dread withing. Here we at least have the comfort of fellow sufferers that know the trials we pass to even exist.

Our existence is only uncomfortable to those that need to ignore our existence to feel okay about themselves. But to each their own. Here should be a place of good, of understanding and compassion.

Wasn't terribly hard to find it by looking up "suicide forum". I even found it on Google.
