Yeah I could see that. I would suggest looking for pre-employment programs. I don't know how old you are, but there might be some programs aimed at young people. There's also employment agencies helping people with self-identified disabilities. It takes some research, but I'm sure you can find some kind of program which will help you secure employment - if that's what you're looking for.

You could always try volunteering whilst looking for a job. I know you won't earn anything but it's something to do, a reason to get out of bed and it looks really good on your CV. I got my first job through volunteering there first. I never would have found a job otherwise my anxiety was so bad at the time.

jobcorps if you meet the age range. You even get an allowance for letting them train you.

Unfortunately we have this crappie worldwide situation and it's really hard to get a job.
I recently sent CV's to a couple of independent repair shops but they refused the application since their stores are small and only 3 employees are allowed to work in the store because of those rather stupid regulations in Germany :|

It might be possible to work from home freelance. If you were to contact a small business (not a corporation), the owner might agree to let you prospect the Internet to find potential customers. You might charge $5 each for a potential lead for him.

hey canttakeit, I can vouch that a job can definitely make you feel better, however, most retail/entry level jobs are annoying as shit. I happened to luck out, and it seemed like for a while, I had exactly what I wanted and I was building towards something good. I never finished college so without a degree I felt hopeless for years. Unfortunately, my stupid ass quit my incredibly decent job because of my personal feelings... I would say I regret it but truthfully I was being used like a doormat, severely underpaid for the work I did, and my manager played me pretty hard. I've been unemployed since the beginning of March... finding a new job absolutely sucks. Serving blows too, unless you have the personality for it. A few of the other decent jobs I had in the past were working in a bakery- it feels good to make things and you're constantly busy, people don't bother you much, and a bookstore where I was a clerk, there was always stuff to do and I enjoyed getting books for pocket change. If you haven't really had a job for a long time or you haven't worked before, you can try to get a job working the front end at a grocery store. It's pretty low stress and you stay busy, bagging groceries, putting product back, getting carts, and nowadays, sanitizing things. If you are a good worker the management will try to place you in another position, either cashier, stocker, or working in a department.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand anyone's need to feel "useful". Could not give a shit. If the work is shit and the pay is shit, death and oblivion is obviously a superior alternative. It's not even close.

I have a freelance job that I fucking hate, that pays pissed on garbage, and I have a "vocational training" job where I've just stopped answering the guy when he tries to get in touch. I fucking hate it to death. They like the work I do turn in, but I couldn't possibly give one fuck. I'd much rather turn in piss poor work for adequate money than good work for inadequate money. It does not and will not matter to me what anyone thinks of any work I do, and I cannot imagine giving a fuck about whether or not anyone values anything I do.

The. Only. Thing. that matters is enough money for an adequate standard of living and autonomy. Whether or not that comes from any kind of tangible contribution to society – don't care, won't care.

Honestly it can, before having the job I do now, working 120 hours week to keep my mind busy and not dwell on my depression and thoughts, it keeps me always moving, slowly getting myself out of debt and a goal to strive for... A job really gives you confidence and autonomy. I just hope you can find something to make you a bit happier!

What's the job?

The piece of shit jobs I've had certainly didn't give me confidence or autonomy. The vast, vast majority of jobs are not challenging, they're just fucking boring.

I can't fucking wait to quit the piece of shit freelance job I do have. I fucking hate it. It's impossible to see a way out. It'd be great to be mentally retarded enough to find some illusion of accomplishment in menial piss-wage work, but I just have contempt for those who do. Good for them, by all means, but I'd much rather kill myself than have their life.

I had a job when I was 17 as a farmworker. Boss was an old prick that treated me like a slave. Stupid old bastard didn't know I spent most of the day listening to music, running about in his car and sleeping in the barn. Most of the cows caught mad cow disease from his harpie of a wife.

A job would make me either manic or more depressed. Free time is very important for my well-being. I am really desperate how not to end in poverty. I am still trying things but to this point it seems really hopeless :(

Just factory work, pretty repetitive but I listen to music or audibooks.

My job has been the only steady thing in my life the past 5 years. Well, that and my mom and my pets. My family betrayed us. My ex left me after 2 years.

That job means a hell of a lot to me. It sounds dumb, but it really has gotten me through a ton of bad stuff. It's my rock.
