Yes although CO2 asphyxiation is far from a peaceful death.

I had wondered about that though. If its far from being a painful death, and the woman and her mother in law were having a hard time breathing, why did they not roll down windows, open door, or even exit the vehicle to get some air?

I'm starting to lean on this as 1 of 2 things....

Murder/suicide by either woman,

Or murder by the man, who knew the dry ice would kill, and wanted it to look accidental.

I think it was an honest freak accident though but I did wonder why neither of the women got out. Does it "hit" you that quickly?

I've wondered about this though as opposed to carbon monoxide poisoning in car

Apparently it does hit pretty fast, the husband found them a couple blocks away.
