I am an insomniac or at least identify as one. It's 3:30 am as I write this and I'm just not sleeping. Who else here is an insomniac and who also feels suicidal from this?

Yes. 15 years ago I made attempts due to insomnia. Seroquel and a steady job saved me. But sleep issues remained.
Now it's a symptom of much larger problems but I hope it's killing me. It certainly does make me want to die.

Thanks for replying and now I know I'm not alone. I have tried to attempt it before because of it but I didn't know what I was doing. I don't want to die but I don't want to not be sleeping.

I take sleeping pills since so many years now. I have severe sleep apnea too and I stopped the CPAP machine. It didn't work. I'm tired with or without the machine. But yes, sleeping issues can give you suicidal ideation because brain needs a lot of oxygen and rest. I stopped taking zolpidem for several months, but this the first heatwave here, I started to take it again. But last year, I was quite going crazy at nights so I prefere to take these pills, even if it's highly addictive.

I hope you'll find a solution. Sleeping pills are very affective but doctors don't like to prescribe it because of the probability f being addict.

I'm so sorry that you have insomnia because I know exactly the kind of misery it is. I have had a prescription for zolpidem for many years now and it does help me fall asleep. I don't use it much anymore because I was raped while on it but if you've never tried it maybe it can help.

Oh no, you're not alone at all... Just read theses statistics. It's one of the first health issues in the world.

Yes. Because insomnia killed my mental health, my body, and my relationship. It's more like a consequence of my life but insomnia add itself to the cause of ctb for me.

Was on the maximum legal dose of sertraline for a while. Fuck up my sleep schedule since. Heard somewhere that people with insomnia may be increasing chance of getting early onset alzheimer's as early as in their 30s. If I got that disease then I may qualify for euthanasia lmao. Very wishful thinking but who knows

I've been dealing with occasional insomnia for years and it's one of my main reasons to stop playing the game of life. To this point I heavily suspect that I've lost mental capacity due to it.

I had h to 3 months of 4 hour sleep nights and it made me jump off a bridge. No I'm disabled for life. I used a cpap machine and it caused it. I got the machine because I was snoring… but I could sleep 6-8 hours snoring so the cpap machine is why I jumped.

Imagine having BIND, akathisia, adnehonia on top of extreme insomnia. It's been a few months now. Hell and torment everyday. Burning limbs and feelings of chemical terror daily.

Worst part is these symptoms won't even qualify for MAID..

Hell 24/7

Very sorry to read this. That sounds horrific. The insomnia is a serious issue but added with the others would absolutely be hell.

are you able to work? I reinstated my trazodone after struggling really bad with insomnia in June. And my whole body is like on fire now. Chemical terror. Pins and needles heat in my chest. And I'm not even off the meds. I got this just from restarting. I need to CTB because this is just one of my many issues.

I've lived with this problem for most of my life, and it's still the same today. My mind is hyperactive, and the physical exhaustion this causes has greatly intensified my desire to die. I haven't found a solution, so I currently only take anti-anxiety medication shortly before I need to sleep (for work). Unfortunately, it doesn't always work, and I have to go to work feeling like a zombie.

I've had trouble sleeping for about 10 years now. I have the time-release zolpidem. Between that and melatonin and Xanax, I sometimes have an OK night. Playing "green noise" on my phone also seems to help a little.

I think it's been the other way around. The desire to die—or depression, so to speak—has made me an insomniac.

And actually, many people suffer from it; I think there's more insomnia than sex in the world, hahaha...
For instance, Cioran suffered from insomnia and was a would-be suicide.

Yes of course
The first thing that made me consider CTB was loneliness and abuse
Then the real deal was insomnia, it was awful, the most traumatic days I ever had that marked me forever, I remember taking a xanax then a zolpidem, laying awake for a bit and then being like "Yeah yk what fuck this shit" but I wasn't deadass serious until after some weeks when my insomnia relapsed. I remember tweaking out over it then randomly being "Wait I can just kill myself", that night I slept, I then go to the psychiatrist the next day and tell her my problems, get diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Olanzapine, I don't take it tho, because I was able to sleep without it, or so I thought.
I decided to quit the xanax later after 1 month of 0.25 mg, long story short it didn't work out as I thought, insomnia resurfaced, but here is where things got weird, at first I was cutting the xanax, and right before insomnia resurfaced I was kind of getting over myself, feeling better overall, then it resurfaced, but I was managing 4 hours of sleep with no problem, this goes on for 4 days before I visit another psychiatrist, he gives me xanax again, and also Lexapro, an anti depressant, and abilify an anti psychotic.
I never took the abilify just the anti depressant and Xanax, sleep resurfaced, mostly 7 hours, I had relapses for a day sometimes, it all goes south because I went on holiday, and when I was supposed to return I had to wake up at 5 AM, slept like one hour that night, then I enter my first big manic episode, I went insane, some of the stuff I did was fight with everyone, I threw a rage fit on the street, was sleeping 2 hours per night, wandering aimlessly for 5, lost like 5 kilos, had my first hallucination, what was my reaction to all of this "YEAH" in fact I was so into it that I said "oh so sleeping less means this, ok then I am quitting my xanax cold turkey" did that, eventually 4 days later I crash into a more stable state, this time staying awake didn't work anymore, my brain was lobotomising me each time it wanted to sleep, a depressive episode followed, suicidal tendencies again.
But ever since the insomnia I have been die hard suicidal and if it ever comes again I will do it

i am on SSRI and SNRI, both with insomnia side effect. Doctor prescribed olanzapine plus xanax to take during bed time. It work for me, which give me "moderate to good" 7 hours sleep per night. I need good sleep. Addiction to the medication is secondary to me at this moment.
Insomnia can be trouble falling asleep, trouble staying asleep and wake up too early.

I've got 24/7 chronic insomnia again after 13 years of doing ok, a 2 week course of oral steroids triggered my worst insomnia yet. I sleep random minutes during the night. So exhausted i stay in bed mostly trying to get any few minutes i can. In 24hrs, im lucky if i can sleep 2min here. 10min there. Its so broken.
