I hear that. But I guess true success is being happy—a genuine happiness and contentment with being alive and putting all the negative things about the Human condition aside. This is might be more difficult than trying to becoming rich.
That's what it comes down to for me. Being happy isn't something I can have by just learning a skill or just getting a good job. It's a long and difficult process.

"Bergling retired from touring in 2016 due to health problems, having suffered from stress and poor mental health for several years.[12]On 20 April 2018, he committed suicide in Muscat, Oman. He was buried on 8 June at Hedvig Eleonora Church in his hometown. His posthumous third album, titled Tim, was released in 2019.[13]

they say the more money you have, the more responsibilities and stress that comes with it. depression and money is a bell curve. not having enough you're on the bottom, being able to support yourself and have fun is the sweet spot, then the more you make the more demands come with your income, the more people rely on your wealth (employees or things like gardeners basically), the more people badger you to give it all away.

I found this article but what a gruesome way to ctb just proves you think money can make you happy it does to a certain extent but when you have it you need the things money can't buy.

I enjoyed watching the documentaries on billionaires there life sounds so much fun and glamorous but the pitfalls are being paranoid that anyone who talks or contacts them is after there money, they employ expensive security consultants to protect them from escorting to checking and sweeping there homes and cars for bugs or camera's.

I found this shocking. But with all the problems she had after an incident, media coverage and publicity, I can see why she did what she did
I wonder if she had it planned, just waiting for the right moment?

I have spent weeks, months, years planning and still not had it.

I'm going to have to say Robin Williams too. Then again, I never really 'followed' him in any way, I only knew his comedic persona, nothing about his personal life whatsoever.

If I had been alive back in the day, I'm sure I would have been shocked by Marilyn Monroe's suicide. Especially back then, when paparazzi and the internet weren't truly a thing yet to the point where the public got to pry into every tiny detail of a celebrity's personal life and Hollywood stars had this carefully crafted image of being 'bigger than life' and living the glitz and the glamour, I'm sure the biggest diva of the moment choosing to end her life came as a shock to a lot of people.

Could have been practicing for years as she said in the Police station she will just kill herself, after Robin Williams death a lot of people researched how to ctb, but she was doing really well financially up until her arrest as she bought another expensive property but maybe had a bad time before Love Island. Celebrities get a lot of highs and lows being rejected for roles and waiting for that role which will catapult them into the limelight.

I wouldn't want their life. Fame must suck especially having paparazzi followers and having to hide, no privacy at all. I want their money but nothing else lol

In case anyone didn't already know, Robin Williams had what his doctors "indicated his was one of the worst pathologies they had seen." of Lewy body dementia. He tried many treatments for it and I swear I remember hearing something that he wanted to end it before he ended up in a home or just completely losing his mind or something like that. Maybe someone else here knows better. He really tried, but his mind was perhaps his greatest asset and his suicide feels rational, even though it was shocking to the rest of us, in that regard.

The simple answer is no, it doesn't shock me. This is because I have a rather nihilistic outlook on life in general. I believe that life has a meaning that we assign to it to give it meaning. Objectively though, life itself, has no meaning, only subjective meaning through what we humans give it (religion, personal values, societal values, etc.).

I agree with this. It must be awful having every moment of your life photographed, not being able to ever leave the house without the danger lurking of someone taking your picture somewhere - especially now that everyone always carries a camera - and then to see yourself in the tabloids the next day, being ridiculed for looking like shit because that one time, you couldn't be arsed to get all glammed up just to get some milk at the store around the corner. The non-Americans have it somewhat easier, I imagine, especially the Europeans where there's still some respect for music and acting being simply professions rather than lifestyles that include prying into those people's lives. Take Tilda Swinton or Maggie Smith. Huge names in the acting business but you never see them in the tabloids or anything and they live relatively private lives. But as soon as someone makes the move to the States, that seems to be over.

The trouble is a lot of the reports you see and hear are fake, the celebrities call the media to tip them of that they will be visiting a place and then act angry and run away even the top movie stars do it when they have a movie premier coming up, I heard celebrities bragging and laughing about it as well and Piers Morgan even said it, the worst thing to happen to a celebrity is not being recognized.

But when things turn bad that's when you are hounded and they are relentless they have all there freelancers after you, it's like a wanted poster a huge amount of money put on your head for a picture.

I certainly wouldn't like to be famous being gawk at everywhere you go, people wanting selfies and taking pop shots at you, fame isn't all it's cracked up to be. I just want enough money that I don't have any money worries maybe 20 million would suffice, lol.

Oh, there's no doubt about it, @Jumper Geo, you are absolutely right. Diana would be a prime example of exactly the kind of situation you just described, including the turning point - and that was outside the US. But paparazzi and tabloid culture has definitely developed to the point that - in the States in particular - simply being famous is enough reason for them to document your every waking moment. There's tons of American celebrities who simply pursued their profession but never had much interest in all the publicity and they, too, will be photographed and dragged through the mud for walking their dog at 4 AM looking like a strung out zombie.

It can't be as bad as the UK media, that's why Harry and Meagan left to get some privacy I was going to mention Diana but decided to leave it the best celebrity hounding I saw was Jack Black so he went home and decided to dress as a Star Wars storm trooper and he was in the shop and a reporter started questioning him saying Jack this and that it was really funny, he said said how do they know it's me, it must be because I'm a short storm trooper, lol.

Keith Emerson's suicide surprised me. He shot himself because arthritis meant he couldn't play the way he wanted.

I'd never heard of Anthony Bourdain until he died. I wonder why they called his death suicide and David Carradine's was ruled accidental.

When I heard Robin Williams had died I immediately thought "suicide". I don't know why.

Yes, shocking for me also. I understand some other posters here making the point that its hard to come down when you've been famous, but poor Caroline was at her peak, her star was still in the ascendance. Media scrutiny of every detail of your private life must be horrible.

All 3 Love Island suicides. With Sophie ...her fairly new boyfriend did it aswell. Sophie, Mike... I was so shocked... then Caroline.

I truly believe Caroline really meant it. There was no cry for help there. She meant it and she did it. With purpose. All of them break my heart but things must've been horrifically bad to get to that point. It must've been such a release.
