Just read that out of 78 people who have taken their life in italian prisons so far this year, 65 died by hanging. Seems to be a reliable method which even works if you have little to no resources…

I think that success by hanging is just "availability heuristic", bc you will never hear about those who failed since the procedure can be aborted easily or not start in first place.

Hanging does seem to be a method that is very commonly used for ctb as of course it's easily accessible. It certainly makes it sound so much easier than it actually is when you hear of all these people succeeding with it, but the reality is that at least to me it's not a straightforward method and there is also the fear of failing it which is what has always held me back from attempting.
It just sounds like a horrible way to leave this world to me but I envy those who managed to go through with it. The fact that so many succeeded with it shows that it's always possible to ctb that way. I do think that maybe many of the people who succeeded with this method didn't overthink it too much and just went through with it when they got desperate.

the problem is fighting the SI when your body is desperately trying to cut the rope. After that phase, eternal rest.
