I've been seeing some news lately about famous people like actors, social media stars, and youtubers dying by suicide. Almost all of them seem to use hanging, which makes me think they might be doing it on impulse rather than planning it beforehand.

If it wasn't impulsive, you'd think they would've researched other options more, especially since they have the money and resources to access what they might consider less painful and peaceful methods like SN, pills, etc.

I think they do it impulsively because they have enough money to have access to peaceful methods and they know the right people who can help them. Yesterday, I was thinking about Robin Williams (one of my favourite actors). I'm sad for him when I think he was forced to hang himself 😞 When he died, N was easily available. Celebrities are only human, I guess they want a peaceful ending too. I'm worried for Ariana Grande. You can see she's very ill. Celebrity can kill. I don't envy these people. Always under radar. Not surprising to see them ctb.

Yeah celebrities are still human and having money or fame doesn't necessarily protect someone from suicidal thoughts. I just hope people can recognize when someone is struggling and give them support before things reach that point, it sucks that people often prioritize their public persona over their mental health.

Celebrities are always under the radar and are under the performance pressure. They do a great performance, suddenly they are in the limelight, all that disappears in some time and no one's even thinking of them. They feel that pressure to always be in the lime light. A lot of actors and actresses don't get work anymore.
Besides, not many care about others, so even if you tell someone that you are suicidal, they may not help you except once or twice.

ironically I think a lot of people on here don't really understand suicide. and sometimes I kind of question how safe it is to try to obtain SN, not to rock the boat. you can be actively suicidal and have a detailed plan without having SN or something else. whether you're on here or not. And I've only ever met one person IRL who knew what this website was. I've even made multiple bus stop art pieces in psych hospitals with nobody seeming to know why the hell I'm doing that or what it means. except for one person. they lost someone to suicide. you know how easy it is? i've lost people to it too. you just OD on opiates basically. y'know, something like that. couple of the suicides my friends chose was overdose. Or, you can go the quick and violent route (especially in 2A America). it's that easy. different personalities gravitate to different methods. and once one is publicized, it get's more popular. its contagious.

how impulsive is it, *really*, for the average person to really know how to successfully do hanging? how many of us on here are writing posts about it and searching it because we're not sure?

also, sometimes a method just sticks in your mind and hooks you. like a moth to a flame. and a lot of people, including me, don't really care if the end is painful as long as it's relatively quick, or just happens in the first place. the goal is death, for me, not what happens before it. (obviously not gonna wanna suffer for hours or be handicapped though). romanticizing death like it has to be this very peaceful thing or else you're not "planning well enough" is odd to me. very chronically online and detached take, in my opinion.

personally I have money and resources but I'm going quick and violent, after I write my will.Found someone to help me with that.

I think it's impulse, but I feel bad for them because their methods are just blasted everywhere. I think a lot of these celebrities have been thinking about ctb for a while, but who can they really talk to (regarding how they're feeling, methods, purchasing anything) I would be so scared anything I say is leaked to the press. You know how they treat people with SI. Or, hell, how would I know. Hanging is just a tough way to go.

I'm not sure if that's so easy for them - yes, they can easily get drugs, but something like N is used pretty much for one purpose only - you would need someone very trustworthy to get it without them ratting on you.

I think that's why a lot of celebrities still choose hanging - they just can't trust anyone.

I don't think that everybody who chooses hanging ctb on impulse. Apart from gunshot it is the most lethal method, that might be a reason for many determined people to choose it. Plus it takes very little time for losing consciousness and that isn't true for many other methods, especially most types of poisening take longer.
Also drug overdose might be more of a risk for celebrities in case of surviving than for others as it can also impact their career, if it is known that they took drugs. And the legal consequences are the same unless they live in a country where you can easily bribe your way out of trouble.

Why would it be any different from why non-celebrities die? They're just as susceptible to their demons as we are. Hanging is something that can be researched and planned or decided on just beforehand. I don't see it as more or less impulsive.
