I can't even get myself to type out how I feel because it's so upsetting. I'm a woman in my early 30s and I'm losing my hair, likely to go bald. I do not have a good head shape for being bald. I feel so ugly and unfeminine. Wigs will definitely give me sensory issues, but I'm sure I'll wear them...

I want my bus ticket rn before it gets noticable. And it's heartbreaking that I feel like something so shallow could be the final straw for me. I thought I was "better" than that.

losing your hair is heart breaking

having negative thoughts due to it is normal. it might seem shallow on the outside, but losing hair is a scary thought for both men and women. do not beat yourself up about having this as a trigger. the feelings are normal for almost everyone on here

I can only speak as a man here... but maybe it will help?

In my life I have sometimes let my hair grow long, but usually that was more about depression and laziness than it was about having long hair. Also, I've had a developing bald spot in the back of my head for many years now so long hair just kind of magnifies that.

Anyway, in my early 20s I was working a job and I didn't care for the job much and I was depressed in general. It didn't matter for my job how I looked, so I just let my hair and beard grow and grow... and I told some people that if they ever see me get a haircut again it meant I had a job interview somewhere. So, one day I did get an interview scheduled, so I went to a barber shop and it wasn't planned, but when I sat in the chair and he asked me what I wanted... I asked for a crew cut. He asked me if I was sure... said with my light (red) hair my scalp would show through clearly. I told him that was fine. I said it will grow back, but if it doesn't then I will know what I'm going to look like.

That began my obsession with crew cuts because it was so much cooler in the summer and I could sleep on it without worrying if my hair would look funny the next day and I felt lighter and wind didn't blow hair in my eyes... the list goes on... I am embarrassed to admit, though that it was about 10 more years before I realized I could shave my own head and save on the haircuts!

But once I was in, I was in... and I recommended it to everyone... including women. I know its not trendy, although every now and then some celebrity will shave her head for a movie OR have hair loss herself and decides to go out confidently bald.

For my money... and for whatever its worth to you... I have never known a woman that I found attractive that I would find any less attractive if she were bald... whatever the reason. I can't believe I'm unique in that. I'm nobody special. Admittedly, you lose out on being able to run your hands through her hair and she loses the ability to style her hair in different ways for different looks... but I defy any man who actually loves a woman to say she is no longer attractive or even less attractive bald than with hair.

Are their guys who will? Sure... but that's their problem and if that turns them off, they are the ones missing out on a great person. And I'd say the same if you are gay and women were turning away because of it.

Might not help... but I hope it does.

I'm losing my hair as well. It's so damaged breaking off falling out. I used to have such a gorgeous head of thick long curly hair. And now I just slick it back in a low bun. I look like a fucking man. Plus I'm obese. I'm disgusting. It's only a matter of time till I'm bald. I fucking hate this.

If you are noticing that you are starting to lose your hair then I would recommend seeing your doctor and a dermatologist, since they might be able to help. Hair loss can sometimes be a sign of some sort of health issue, such as low iron or PCOS. If it is the case that you don't know why your hair is falling out then please see someone about it. Hair loss, when caught early enough, can potentially be treated.

It's PCOS. I put off dealing with it, but I'm on spiro now.

That sucks. I also have PCOS and I hate it. Thankfully my symptoms are mild, but I still cannot stand it

I suffer from androgenetic Alopezia and sebborroic dermatitis.

Do you take iron and magnesium supplements too? I am on spironolacton 25mg, minoxidil 2.5mg, iron with c vitamin 100mg, and every night before sleep I take magnesium 500 with melatonin some hours after spiro.

One my hairline comes some hair back now. And my hair looks thick when it is dry but not really better. I always had a birds nest since puberty.
