It seems like many recommend the 357 magnum. Is it really that foolproof and intraoral?
I also tried the 12 gauge on the soft palate but it makes you gag.

What is the actual position to put a gun in your mouth? I'm seeing many different answers ranging from 15-45 degree angles and now I'm not entirely sure which angle is accurate.

Getting a 357 magnum revolver. I want to get the best bullets for the job. Hollow points, sure. But what do you recommend for ammunition to get it done?

Buffalo Bore Heavy .357 Magnum Bullets (180 gr Hard Cast) you must have at least a 6 inch or 8 inch barrel. Otherwise you risk losing 200-300 fps from the effective 1,400-1,500 fps you can get.

I'm pretty sure this thread is dead, guys. 😔
It's not dead, just that apparently my advice is "condescending", and as it happens, more often than not I'm the only person on here answering people's questions.

Angle doesn't mean dick tongzhi, aim for this.

With a gun like that, ammunition doesn't matter. Just get whatever.

Because the people here are fearmongerers.

If you aim it right.

Did you press it directly onto the soft palate?

I mean, if you want to be neurotic about it. At point blank, with a .357 Magnum, aimed directly at the brainstem? Unless one is using ratshot it's gonna take them out.
I've never used a gun before but it seems like a shotgun is the way to go. Does anyone who understands guns know if sawing the barrel shorter would be a good idea? I'm worried about the reach to the trigger and keeping a good aim.
Practically? Probably.
Legally? That's illegal if you don't register it.
I got a question, is a air rifle reliable? Specifically .177 4,5mm (thats the caliber), its 8-10 joules, i was thinking of dieseling 2 pellets (shooting both at same time) into my temple, (dieseling method = petroleum/vaseline), what do you guys think?
Dear god please no. No, no, no, no, absolutely the fuck no.
A .22LR is more than 100 joules. That's a .22LR, the shit everyone here (for good reason) says you shouldn't use. A .22 will kill you, but it's the bare minimum, and the highest chance of failure along with the .25 ACP (I would consider them equals in terms of failure). An air rifle is stupidly underpowered, even when dieseled, and aiming for the temple is just not a good place to aim to begin with.
I've sometimes, in particularly bad moments, considered shooting myself in the neck with an air rifle, however even this would not be the best idea, a crossbow or even a knife would be better for such a thing, not that they would be good ideas either.
As far as I'm concerned, any weapon that doesn't use gunpowder should be completely disregarded for this purpose.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer all those, and especially my, questions. I have no idea about guns and this is the only place I can find to safely ask questions. Thank you.

I only have a .22 rifle, I know it's not recommended, but I live in a fairly remote area.. could I just go deep into the woods and bleed out if it doesn't work? Not ideal obviously, I think I could probably hit the stem

Ill just drop this tidbit. The firearms that cause the most damage at point blank range have a lot of powder in the shell. Thats just my observation.

Yes, while it's not recommended, a .22 will work if nothing else is available.

Well... yeah.
Though one should not load their rounds too hot, lest they make a hand amputation device.

This was an attempted suicide by shotgun to the head.
Just a reminder.
Aim correctly.
Video wasn't necessary but yes, not all of your head contains your brain, and one needs to hit that to ensure death.
Same reason why putting it under your chin is a bad idea, most likely you'll just blow your face off. There's some more posts somewhere on this thread of testimonies where people did that.

I tried to setup the night night method with the ratchet strap, but it's awkward and once I had it on, it felt like I couldn't do the ten seconds after however long it would take to even get to the ten seconds. So now I think I gotta go gun. It's the imagery that's always played the most in my mind anyway. All those hundreds of flashes of images I get every day, gun, hanging, jumping... gun has always been the most prevalent and the reason I have done everything in my power to stay away from them. My dad got gun happy in the past couple years and I always refuse to even look at his guns, much less go to the range with him because all I see is the flash of me picking up a loaded gun and blowing my brains out in a matter of two seconds, over and over and over again. But now I feel this unstoppable compulsion to get one more than ever. Another form of self harm, getting the thing I've tried so hard to stay away from like it's a bag of cookies that I know I shouldn't get because I'm definitely going to eat them if I have them, when I wouldn't have if I didn't have them.

I've only read the first two pages of this giant thread, so forgive me if this has been asked, does the gun brand matter? Is Taurus good enough? The brand seems to have a reputation for shitty products except for the revolvers (and the TX22 which is too small).

I'm right with you on guns. I've always hated them because I knew what I was likely to do with one. That said, I'm picking up a cheap shotgun on Thursday as that seems to be the most effective weapon to use.
Good luck.
I picked myself up a cheap little break barrel 12-gauge. Got some 2 3/4" 00 buckshot. I think that should be enough. I planned to saw off the stock and barrel. I was also gonna put the barrel in my mouth when I got to end things. Does it sound like I'm doing everything right?
It's exactly what I'm going for so fingers crossed.

from my observations , the pk360's external design is almost identical to an h\&k usp — it really slots into the same category as a glock 17 or 18 , and you could even liken it to the larger‑frame glock 22 or 31 . a quick note on caliber terminology: the round commonly referred to here as ".360" doesn't actually exist in standard production — this pistol is chambered in .380 acp (9×17mm), which is essentially a slightly stouter version of the 9×19mm parabellum yet still runs noticeably lighter in recoil than a .45 acp . if you've ever concluded that a 9mm from a glock 17 or usp is already more than sufficient to obliterate cranial tissue at point‑blank range , then it only stands to reason that the pk360's .380 acp loadout is equally, if not marginally more , lethal. weapon lethality metrics usually hinge on effective range and projectile ballistics , but at true point‑blank targeting of the head there's really no meaningful distinction — it's a guaranteed one‑shot stop scenario , case closed

The PK380 is slightly weaker than a Glock 17, considering 380 is weaker than 9mm, however neither are comparable to the Glock 22, 31 or any .45 ACP firearm, considering those cartridges are more powerful.
That being said, a PK380 will be sufficient. If one were to use a 380, it's best to use it in a large pistol such as a PK380 rather than a pocket pistol.
Still, it is refreshing to see someone who hasn't fallen for the fearmongering.

How about 5.56 hollow point? Too much velocity or will it all dump on my skull?

what exact ammo ? on the side of the head . will the bullet go through the skull in a contact shot ? or is a bonded bullet better?

how fast 3000 feet per second ?

if the bullet goes through the skull into the brain the brain should die at that velocity. i was just worried that the bullet might break up if too much velocity ? but i doubt it?

I have two options and would appreciate some feedback/perspective on them. Although the consensus seems to be to shoot into the mouth with a long gun, that also seems to be more of a convenience thing. I'm doing the trigger pull with a rope, not my hand, and I can securely prop my gun up on a tree. So I want to shoot with the gun at a slight downward angle, rather than upward. I feel this has more of a chance to fully "explode" my head, and all areas of my brain. Here are my options:

1.) 12 gauge 00 buckshot, 1325 fps velocity, shooting through one of my eyes, aiming towards the base of my skull in the center

or

2.) 12 gauge expanding* slug, 1450 fps velocity, shooting through the bridge of my nose, aiming towards the base of my skull in the center

*Expands to double its diameter, so ~1.4 inches, but that assumes it expands properly. The idea with the different placement is to have it enter through bone, as opposed to soft tissue where it may not expand.

I've shot both rounds, and the expanding slugs definitely come out with more force.

What do you guys think?
