Hmm. I live in Brazil, which has pretty strict gun laws, and I just found out I can buy pretty much everything I need on line.

What type of gun did he use ??

This is also what scares me, you can control where you shoot but you can't control where the bullet will ricochet in the skull

There's a right way and a wrong way to shoot yourself through the temporal bone. Shooting just behind the eyes is the wrong way, you'll miss vital parts of the brain, or maybe miss the brain entirely. Plus you'll probably shoot through the optic nerves. That's what happened to the poor bastard lingering in the hospital. You want to shoot through the temporal bone behind the ear. You'll hit the brain stem and that's a quick death. Or aim at the brain stem through the mouth.

Video wasn't necessary but yes, not all of your head contains your brain, and one needs to hit that to ensure death.
Same reason why putting it under your chin is a bad idea, most likely you'll just blow your face off. There's some more posts somewhere on this thread of testimonies where people did that.

What did the video show ?
Is that the one where they shot in their chin up and their face are blown but not their brain ?

They shot through their chin right ?
Beats me, certainly missed any of the brain though. Chin was intact but could have been plastic surgery, did look very odd. The entire area from his mouth to his brow was just gone.
The video just shows the guy eating btw, not a video of the attempt itself. Still gnarly though.

I think it depends where the shot hits. I'm watching videos on youtube of people that shot themselves and survived. Fukken scary for sure

Imo a bullet from a handgun placed against the head hitting any area where the brain is lethal. 1000 feet per second bullet

Imo a rifle 3000 feet per second I think anywhere in the head the head breaks apart Ronnie mcnut

I don't think any land animal can survive a contact head shot with a bullet traveling 3000 feet per second which is almost 1 kilometer per second

When a 150 gr / 3,000 fps round will kill instantly

  • Perfect broadside brain shot (through the ear hole or just behind the ear) → instant kill 99% of the time.
  • Any shot that enters the brain case perpendicularly and expands or fragments → very high probability of instant drop.
  • Cup-and-core hunting bullets (e.g., typical soft points or ballistic tips) can fragment on the outer bone table and never reach the brain.
  • Solid copper or very tough bonded bullets (e.g., Barnes TSX, Nosler Partition, Woodleigh) do much better.

Velocity is everything . A bullet traveling close to the speed of light would destroy the Earth

Maybe? I don't see why it would matter much except for the mess though, it's plenty overkill already.
I have drug injury that makes my body pump adrenaline and literally can't lose consciousness. I was wondering if it would be instant head deletion or if I would still be conscious since I have adrenaline overload

Well, I looked it up and here's the closest I can provide to an answer.

I ended up buying rifled point hollow jacket ammo. But here's the biggest question: how do people get over the fear of the one-shot that they have? (By one-shot, I mean: what if you survive somehow? What if by some chance, a part of your brain still lives and someone saves you in time to preform life-giving measures.)

do it at a time no one will be around to save or hear you, you'll eventually bleed out within AT THE VERY MOST an hour.

Should be good although I'd recommend buying a 10mm pistol, it's more powerful and has more velocity and kinetic energy than a good amount of pistol cartridges including the 45 ACP. The more kinetic energy the bullet has the more damage it strikes onto the target. There are hi points in 10mm btw.

Is there guides out there to show how to properly hold a shotgun so you can get the right angle and still be able to pull the trigger ?

Hoo boy. Looks like I can get a shotgun for next to nothing. It's starting to feel real. There'd be no pain. You'd never even hear it.

I've settled on using a 12 gauge shotgun to CTB. I know next to nothing about firearms in general. Regarding ammo, what is suggested? Slug or Buckshot? Any particular kind of either?

I'm sure either would work. The shot isn't gonna spread out much in the inch before it hits your brain stem, so a slug is probably just as good, but I'm thinking buckshot.

Shotgun question for everyone: is there any reason to go for the heart instead of head?

if i were to do a 12 gauge shotgun i would choose the highest velocity slug or 00 buckshot i can get . and the longest barrel i can handle and or put on my mouth or behind ear side of head or around ear. usually the word magnum on the ammunition will mean higher velocity or power

but imo most 00 buckshot and most slugs in a 12 gauge shotgun will do it if hit the head near the middle

why velocity matters to me for ctb

ok i'm not recommending these bullets or caliber or rifle . it's much more complicated than that. i'm just using these videos to illustrate the importance of velocity .

here are much heavier bullets 110 grains and 180 grains and higher caliber .357 magnum . you can see the effects on the ballistic gel and the velocity:

here is smaller caliber and a small 40 grain bullet. but the velocity is much higher . you can see the very small bullet completely destroys the gel and the table under it. knocked the gell off the table. that gell is like a head. the brain is less elastic than that gel and would not survive . gel is made to mimick much denser and elastic muscle

the bigger bullets barely move the gel leaving a small wound channel , still deadly though. they say the smal bullet is for varmints i guess to explode gell and table too huh?
