Those people who say CTBing is for cowards, losers, weaklings

In my case though It's true, well except for the coward part, I'd like to think I'm not a coward. Loser and mentally weak, you betcha :heh:

I don't know I might even be a coward, and even if it was the case I think it would hurt whatever is left of my ego too much to be honest about it to myself and even more so to openly declare it.

Diane Nemerov Arbus
220px-Diane-Arbus-1949.jpg

The American photographer Diane Nemerov Arbus (1923-1971) specialized in photographs of nontraditional subjects, including gays, the physically challenged, circus performers, and nudists.

Arbus committed suicide in her New York apartment on July 26, 1971. Perhaps the words of her longtime friend, photographer Richard Avedon, provide the most fitting epithet: "Nothing about her life, her photographs, or her death was accidental or ordinary." Her unique vision, her personal style, and the range of her subject matter provided a seminal influence in 20th-century photography.

Famous American cyclist Kelly Catlin committed suicide recently. She was only 23 and chose this despite having pretty much everything going for her, or at least it seemed that way.
Hope she found peace.

Famous American cyclist Kelly Catlin committed suicide recently.

This saddened me greatly. I did not know of Kelly so I could have treated it with a bit of 'meh' (as one does with many headlines) but because of where I am at the moment, I read a bit more than I might normally. This article in the Denver Post stood out for me.

You get the sense from it that Kelly felt a very pressured individual, perhaps trying to manage her own expectations and desires. The "juggling with knifes" metaphor, the sense you get that she sees failure and disappointment in things she sees herself as failing at, or having let "slip through the cracks", rather than deriving satisfaction from the things she has done. Why do we, as human beings, do this to ourselves? How is it that we can create such turmoil in our heads? It's an individual story, and to be treated as such. We can never know 'why'. It really does make me sad that an individual suffers so.

I see there's a change to the narrative on the suicide of Kelly Catlin, one that will appease pro-lifers. It seems Kelly was, or had been, suffering from a concussion (which I have no reason to doubt) So clearly she was not of her 'right mind' when she took her own life, as no doubt some will say/cling to.

That a young, intelligent and gifted individual might want to end their life obviously cannot be entertained.
