Goodbye thread, I hope

So I guess this is it. In a few hours, I will be checking into a hotel room, where I plan to die later today. My method of choice will be full suspension hanging - it's quick, it's accessible, it's only painful for a few moments before unconsciousness sets in, and it's highly lethal. For those who don't know, passing out will likely occur within 10 seconds; brain death will set in after 5-10 minutes; and body death typically follows at the 20-30 minute mark.

There are still a few ways this could go wrong. It could be that the gap between the bathroom door and the door frame isn't wide enough to slide a rope through; it could be that my survival instinct flares up before I step off my platform; or it could be that I make too much noise while unconscious and someone files a noise complaint before my half an hour is up. But these are risks I'm willing to accept. I'll definitely report back if any one of those complications foils my plan.

I haven't been on sasu for very long, and I haven't been the most active member while a member here. And yet, my experience here has been full. I've learned so much from this site, and I'd like to think I passed some of that learning on to other people. I've definitely helped people here, and I've hurt people, too. I've even made unexpected friends in unexpected places.

But my life is miserable. I have made death wait far too long, and it is almost time for me to go. I love you all, and wish you the very best of luck on your journeys, wherever they lead <3

Thank you all so much for the kind messages. You have made this journey a little less scary, and a little less lonesome.

I've successfully checked into my hotel room. It's on the 31st floor, and it feels like I'm overlooking an entire city. But I've encountered an interesting problem, as far as I'm aware not reported on this site before. I had planned on using a dumbbell thrown over a door as my anchor point: you put the weight on the other side of the door from where you hang, you tie a hitch knot around the weight, you throw the rope over the door, tie a noose on the side of the door where you plan on hanging, close the door, and hang. However, my rope - 12mm braided polypropylene - does not fit between the top of the door and the door frame. That is, when I try to close the door, the rope blocks the door from fully closing.

HOWEVER, when I test my setup....it seems to work? When I use the rope to support my full weight and I shake around, the door doesn't move. When I've pulled the rope as hard as I can in every direction I can think of, the door has stayed put. The door is definitely strong enough to support my weight, and it seems stuck where it is. This obviously doesn't feel as safe as if the door had fully closed, but I think I'm going to go for it anyway.

I'll keep you all posted, but that's one of three obstacles (seemingly) surmounted. And my survival instinct has been kept in check for now. Fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Sounds like a pretty solid plan to me, however I would make sure to carry this out when you know very little people will be around. You don't want someone to get suspicious of the weight and move it mid-suspension. Other wise, good luck, and I hope you find peace.

I would assume the door in question is an interior door (like the bathroom door for instance). I wouldn't presume someone would do this on the front door to a hotel room where any random person could just walk by and see it.

With extra line, tied off to something outside of the door (a chair leg or similar) then fed under the door to the inside and tied to something solid inside could also help keep the door closed if that might be an issue
