People come to these extremes because their pain thresholds have been passed. That limit, no matter how low or high it is, when broken, makes people get on their knees and beg for an end to their pain, even if that end is the ultimate one. One needs maturity to realize that this act is one of desperation, and would NEVER happen if the person didn't have their limits overwhelmed by the many circumstances that surround them.This. I'm pro-choice in pretty much all regards, be it this context, the original context, ect. Of course, I don't want people to die in this way, but I think they should have the right to. I wish none of us were sad enough, ill enough, hopeless enough, in enough pain or stress or trauma, ect. to want to take our own lives.
That is why, I believe, that we need to minimize suffering by improving living standards, and helping people feel belonging on the society that cradles them, to avoid loneliness. Unless the person is so incredibly damaged that ending their existence is LITERALLY the only way to stop their pain, I think that person would rethink their life when inserted in an environment that actually promotes well-being and happiness above all.
