so i finally hung out with a friend after like two months of not seeing her, and she immediately started saying things like "oh, i wish [her new best friend] was here" or "oh, [her new best friend] would get that reference" and it made me feel so undervalued and left out. i tried talking to her about it right now and it feels like she didn't understand what i was saying because she started talking about how her relationship with her new best friend is special and sister-like. and it just felt like she didn't quite understand. this is why i should just stop trying to be close with people. they always leave. they always abandon me. they always move on. this is a really painful feeling.
