I got a pet pigeon half a year ago, and it honestly healed me. I was able to get up every morning without any problems, want to look forward to tomorrow, and has made me very happy. Because of him, I didn't see a purpose to log into this website (I will attach a picture of him).

With all that said, I know he will pass on one day, and I will end up wanting to CTB again. Even with that in mind, I am very calm and have accepted this. I will end up doing that one day, and I'll likely use this site more when that happens.

I'm glad this community/site exists, since friends don't even want me to CTB at all, honestly I have considered it carefully and it's the best outcome for me. I'm enjoying the time I have with my bird, he's made me want to continue living for him. I love him so much.

Yes!!! Me too, I searched a lot on how to take care of him, and I wanted one ever since I saw how much people look down on them. He's the biggest helper :D

We had pigeons when I was a kid. I absolutely loved them -- and oh my gosh when the coo when you pet them!! How can that NOT melt your heart?? They are beautiful birds.

I am SO happy you found something that makes you happy. I have my dog and my cats. Well, and my ducks ... Lol And chickens and guinea pigs. 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻 It is amazing what a pet can do for your peace of mind. And yes, I also worry about what will happen my mental health when I lose a pet. I guess I have kinda insulated myself from that by having a BUNCH of lovely animals to cate for. Lol

I can tell you having other pets to comfort you does help with the loss of anyone or thing. I recently lost my husband. A month later I lost my OG dog. Honestly, I am not sure what I would have done if I hadn't had everybody else around here to love and comfort me. They really are a lifeline. Literally.

Could you get another pigeon?? That way you and Hubert would have another friend?? A lot of what lightens my heart is watching my dog and cats play together -- my dog thinks he's a cat and my cats think they are dogs so it's "interesting" around here to say the least. I'd give ANYTHING if I could convince the dog he shouldn't try to get in the window sill ... Or walk on the back of the sofa! 🤣🤣

Yes oh my god, animals are truly a lifeline especially in hard times!! I can't get him a friend right now, sadly, but he seems pretty happy :3 That's so cute about your dog acting like a cat!! That sounds super adorable ❤️❤️❤️

He's perfect! I'm glad you have him. I find it's easier to live for something else rather than yourself.
I recently adopted a cat at work - he's 16 years old - his owner had been dead 2 weeks in his flat when we found him -we have no idea how he's alive, probably ate his owner - but I keep thinking if this old blind dude with no teeth can survive this then i can survive the asshole in my head telling me to die x
Statistically he should be dead - but he had a will to live... so we can too
Make your life about your bird- after that get another one - or just get more whilst he is here ...it's easier to feel compassion for another life then it is yourself
