Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Bumping the FSH thread in the hope that it'll help me get the balls to do it. I know there's going to be ten seconds or so of agony before I leave this world. This is the method I have. There are no more steps but to do it, nothing to buy or whatever. Trying to be rational. Just kick the chair away! Yes, it will hurt, but less than living hurts. I know my future is a dead end. The thought of death brings me peace--sometimes. When it's time to act I am filled with dread. I hope that the relief I get writing posts like these is with me when I'm on the chair.

Edit: "encouraging" is against the rules! Just got warned for another post. I guess the interpretation will have to be mine. Some info might allow me to encourage myself.

Edit 2: Reading about famous suicides by hanging on Wikipedia gives me comfort. It must be possible! So many have pulled it off. I just have to accept the suddenness of stepping down. The squeeze will be something I've never felt, but it's not like having your bones broken. It's not like burning. It's worth it to prevent the rest of my life. Heck, it's worth it to prevent another day! Be cool, make the decision, act.

The rope I bought says: 2200 lbs working load limits make the ideal poly cord for various activities from crafting to heavy load carriage. Although this boat rope can also hold knots securely, do not use this product for overhead lifting, support of human weight or athletic equipment.

Do you think this will work or should I find a new one?
I just went to Wal*Mart and most of the ropes had a very low working load. I got one that says 350lb, so should be fine for a 210lb guy, but what the heck? It's about preventing hanging, isn't it?

Ease into it, no dropping. Increase the load slowly.

Oh, how I've tried and tried. This is the option I have at hand given my weak mindset--I can't seem to get to the gun store. But FSH is so painful and scary. I suppose I have another "attempt" in me but I know it'll be aborted. Start to feel some squeeze then NOPE, THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Meanwhile, deadlines approach, obligations aren't going anywhere. I just cognitively deconstruct to cope. Stop thinking about it. Put it off another day. Post again here, just whining to people. Receive hug and aww emoji reacts. Something has to change.

Why is the hangman's knot advised against?
Compared to the noose knot at least.
Does it not tighten around the neck properly to result in unconsciousness/death or what?

Someone let me know pls, cuz the hangman's knot seems very sturdy and reliable to me but idk

The hangman's knot, compared to other knots and especially eyelets, has more friction. The rope-force is therefore slightly lower than in the case of a frictionless knot, where it equals body weight when fully suspended. However, this is insignificant because the rope-force required to completely close the carotid arteries is considerably less than body weight. The real issue is the pressure on the neck, but this is directly proportional to the rope-force. So the hangman's knot isn't bad, especially since it certainly won't come undone on its own.
