If you could choose between drowning or hypothermia outside in the winter and no other methods, what would you choose and why? I think both methods are painful, neither are peaceful and both have their pros and cons. Drowning can be a faster death but it can be painful, the idea of being submerged in water and having so much water fill your mouth, nose while also suffocating is horrible. Hypothermia can be a slower death and also painful or at least very uncomfortable, it seems like a bit more peaceful method than drowning although it's not peaceful.
For hypothermia there are a few factors that can determine how fast or slow the method lasts, such as your weight, if you're a more heavy person with fat then it can take longer for hypothermia to set in while if you're skinny then it can take a less amount of time, the type of clothes you wear contribute to the speed of the method, if you don't wear insulated clothes that protect you from the cold then hypothermia sets in faster, your physical health and also alcohol can contribute, alcohol isn't necessary but it can speed up hypothermia, also how cold it is is important, the colder it is the faster the method is, the wind is also important, if you're on a mountain where there's more wind then the method is faster, also it's very possible to get frostbite so it's very important to not be found and saved by someone otherwise if you survive you can suffer the consequences from frostbite, so there are a few things to consider for this method.
I think it depends on each person and what method each prefers, just like it depends on what other methods people prefer, but I'm curious what you think about those 2 methods and if you had to choose between one of them
