• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

i've officially made the appointment with my advisor to drop out. this is the hardest thing i've ever done, but it's a waste of my dad's money, and it's causing me so much stress. i'm hoping that with that stress gone, i can focus more on recovery, and have more time for appointments (i'm hoping to try TMS). right now i kind of just need someone to tell me that it will all be okay, that i haven't fucked up my life forever by doing this. for reference, i was already academically dismissed once and won an appeal, and am currently on academic probation, so if i try to return to school in the future, it will be difficult.

you absolutely will be okay. the importance of college is exaggerated by older generations. for me it's hard to envision my future because i didn't even think i'd make it this far, and i wonder if you are the same; therefore, i wouldn't worry so much about the benefits you could've had attending college. you have many other opportunities to be successful, but right now it is crucial to focus on your mental health, because you can't do anything while in a poor mental state

I'll tell you this as someone who dropped out multiple times already, going through college, and especially if you're majoring in a STEM field, is already a challenging task. Going through college while not being mentally and emotionally stable will only make things far more difficult for you.

Dealing with whatever issues you have, that are causing you not to be able to focus on your studies, is what you should focus on.

It's a lot better to drop out if it is causing too much stress, then for friends here to stumble into an hours old or older goodbye thread.

One can generally reapply later when one feels better (and one wishes to)

I almost dropped out of being alive because of university.
I ended up getting a job in the workforce. It wasn't what I wanted. But I did, and then some years later I made another try at school.

For me, those few years of doing journeyman labor helped me not only by having a practical basis for studies - but when I finished school, I had experience which immediately made me better at my work.

School by itself isn't the goal, it's just a way to get more conceptual tools in your toolbox to do stuff. Experience, even those that might seem unrelated, counts too.
Just my opinion! šŸ«‚

It will be okay. You're doing this the optimal way. You need to focus on your mental health now and you are not locking yourself out of an education. You will have options.
