Never tell people you have mental health problems. They will never take you seriously again.

Yeah, as a last-ditch-effort cry for help. And they probably didn't get any. And not getting any help was what killed the last once of hope they had.
Yeah. It's unfortunate. I think it is difficult because non-suicidal people don't understand the gravity of suicidal ideation. It also feels like you are "burdening" someone while mentioning your problems to them. Obviously, recipients of such information should do something, anything, but I can understand how it's a difficult situation for everyone involved.

I have to agree and say not to tell people. I did once and it went very badly. This is honestly the only place I can be honest about wanting and planning to ctb.

From my experience, if you do tell someone that you want to ctb, when they ask you if you have a plan, say No. If they ask if you have a date, say No. If they ask if you have the tools to ctb, say No. The person I told contacted authorities and was told to ask me those questions. If I answered yes then they were going to admit me to the pysch ward. But I played dumb and answered no and now keep to myself.

Or they end up using it as an opportunity to take advantage of you. People suck.

My father CTB. I was told that no one knew why; no note, out of the blue. But that turned out to be a lie. Not only was it not out of the blue, but he had reached out days before to my grandmother, saying he was going to do it. Apparently she didn't tell my mom until recently (that he had told her that, but I suspect she knew, anyway). But he was also talking about it to other people, as well, and got no help.
