"Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know."
ā Ernest Hemingway, The Garden of Eden
In our case, we can see the things that are so deeply wrong with the world (beyond greed and a lack of empathy) while being powerless to change them. And we can't just ignore those things either. It's pure misery. The most intelligent people we have ever known were all at the least really depressed even if they hid it well. Most were suicidal to some extent. Meanwhile those barely on the other side of the curve were so much happier and able to live what seem to be fulfilling lives in ignorant bliss.
It isn't exactly causation, but there certainly appears to be a trend.

I was told years ago that my high IQ could make me suicidal. Don't really know. MD Psych after several hours of testing pegged me at 153(not bragging). So, now, after several life disasters, yes, I find myself seriously wanting to ctb.
I guess when youre intelligent you will wake up one day wondering why you slave off at work everyday just to be a consumer in a world controlled by others. Whats the point of it all. You realize that you are not free and do not really have choices that you can make.
The only choice is checking out or staying so some become suicidal.
Its like waking up in the matrix, some will choose the succulent steak and wont care that its not real while others will choose the bitterness of reality and will "check out"
no because airing your grievances of what you perceive as some profound revelation relating to society fails to undermine those who are able to profit from the rules of the game. most people view that fact of vanity as they might cliques of chauvins parading an atavistic militarism
