this is how it goes for me... wake up, take morning pills, watch tv or something else useless, take afternoon meds, do the same, take night meds, watch tv for a few hours and fall asleep.

Almost. I drive to work thinking about getting home and going to bed. Weekends I don't get out of bed apart from toilet purposes. No reason to do anything any more. Can't wait for the weekend already so I can just sleep most of the time. I hate being awake though so I would love it if there were pills that would put me to sleep as and when I want. Sending hugs.

Basically. I get up, get dressed then pretty much lay back on the bed for the rest of the day and watch YouTube or something. My existence has become totally pointless lately. I'm completely stuck in a rut and I don't know how to break this cycle.

That is exactly my life now. The worst part of my day is waking up, always a bitter disappointment. The best part of my day is falling asleep (always on prescription medications) hoping I will not wake up.

Yep I sleep a lot but cannot phsycially sleep all day so the rest of my time I spend grooming, on my phone, talking to my parents on the phone, eating and going to groups here at the facility I'm at. I just can't wait for another day to pass, because I'm one day closer to ctb or getting out of here.

I'd need a catheter and colostomy bag to pull that off, but it is true I live 99% percent of my life in my sleepwear now.

Okay, okay, I get up to use the loo. I have an en-suite so it's only a few steps away. I'm not quite at the point where I'm wearing adult diapers. I still have some standards. Only some though. Oh actually, I lie. I always brush my teeth, but that's more of an OCD/ED thing more than anything. Probably 5-6 times a day. I class that as my exercise.:pfff:

Sounds just like my days, wake up, check SS, take meds, sometimes more sleeping pills, sleep as much of the day as I can, some tv, evening surfing on iPad in bed, meds + more sleeping pills .........

I was never like this before, but lately my bed feels like a tar pit. I oversleep constantly and sleep so deeply I may as well be dead.

Every single day. Being awake is agony and I hate living through each day. I'm usually just sat around until it gets reasonably dark and then I'm outta there and into the cave.

Well...well...well...No sooner do I reply to this thread that the best part of my day is going to sleep than I get drowsy and enjoy the earliest night's sleep I've had in weeks without benefit of 20 mg crushed zolpidem. Here I am awake again, less than just over ten hours later. (With the severity of my sleep apnea, 12 hours is not an uncommon requirement for me.)

Yes, sleep is the only time I feel any relief. The days are generally constant horror. I keep pushing the time I go to bed earlier and earlier and wake up later. I am terrified, because I feel that at some point I won't be able to get out of this lifestyle and CTB will be the only option.

The actress Katharine Hepburn allegedly slept up to 16 hours at a time. (But one had to watch out when she was awake, a volcano of energy during those waking hours!) Of death, she commented, "I think death must be wonderful, like a never ending sleep."

Having been chronically sleep deprived all my life, access to unlimited bed time is one of the best things about no longer having to work (probably the very best thing about liberation from the workplace).
Every single day. Being awake is agony and I hate living through each day. I'm usually just sat around until it gets reasonably dark and then I'm outta there and into the cave.

At the end of my working life, I didn't even bother waiting for it to get dark, but created a pitch black cave of my own.

My last jobs were working overnight in motel auditing. For that, I disconnected the telephone during the day and purchased thick black cotton canvas duck cloth for covering over my bedroom windows completely, and bought a sleep sound machine, usually set on rainfall or ocean waves to block out external noises, then slept through the day, fully cocooned from any stimuli indicating what time of day or night it was.

Typically, graveyard shift owls would keep regular daytime hours when not working, then ply themselves with caffeinated beverages to remain alert while on the job, but I opted to forego all stimulants instead and maintain overnight hours whether I was working or not. This allowed me to do much reading during my time off, and the advent of the internet supplied another quiet activities during those hours, but the way I adapted to keeping overnight hours quickly meant my services were in continual demand until I qualified for permanent disability. (In point of fact, I never really fully adapted to working 11:00 PM-7:00 AM. 3:00 PM-11:00 PM was always best suited to my natural circadian rhythms, in both school and work. I got perfect grades in every class I ever took after 3:00 PM, failing or near failing grades in all classes I took earlier than 3:00 PM. Yes, I believe public school and the profit driven abominable grading system created at Cambridge in 1792 by William Farish, AKA history's laziest and greediest teacher, should be abolished.)

Got to fill every second of the waking day with distractions so that I don't have to remember horrible shit, but basically the same idea. Wake up, take meds, wait for the day to be over, more meds, try to sleep.

This really is a terrific site, being able to find out how common experiences like this craving for bedtime and sleep is. Most of us spend at least a third of our lives in bed anyway, and dreams are a daily and nightly vacation from life. My parents are not depressed, but they spend half their days napping (something I used to do when I was able to fall asleep in the daytime.

I can dream of going to the polar ice caps and not be cold, or visiting the desert and jungle yet not be hot or bitten by bugs. Nightmares? Stephen King made a fortune out of writing about his nightmares.

Just how sad is it to spend the entire day waiting for bed time anyway? Bullshit! It's the drudgery and wage slavery of waking life which truly sucks for most of us.

if it's a work day, I'm invariably dreaming about getting back into bed before I've even left it. I suspect that some of this could be mitigated if I had the transferable skills to do something less soul-sucking and stressful that would still provide me with financial security as a single person living in a high cost of living area. (Moving is not a great option, as I want to be reasonably close to family. They're getting older, and they're all I really have.)

I'm a night person too. Always have been. I can't do shift work because one or two all-nighters is all it takes to put me back on my natural circadian rhythm, which can take months to convert back to marginal daytime functionality.
