And then when I wake up I will think I look different so I'll keep checking in the mirror and touching my face, or I'll ask my relatives if I look different. I started wearing a face mask again incase it actually is different so no one will point at me and laugh. I also avoid think about or looking at the area of my face that changed since I think the rapid transformation area will be sensitive or painful. Why did I start to wake up from nightmares like this more recently?

For me it's opposite. I'm hot in dreams. No clue why though its weird brain lies to us as it's not exactly natural advantage to have 8 hours of lies and nonsense being committed into memory.

I have not. I heard too many horror stories of going to therapy.

I wish I could experience good dreams like that. Are you also afraid to go to sleep because of it?

No, I love sleeping. There was a brief time I had full control of dream though it made me sleep longer so I stopped and so then the training vanished too.

Like some others have stated already, you could get some therapy for this to find out the cause. There's a few horror stories with therapy in general yes, but therapy for sleep in general and dreams should be fine.

I've had appearance related dreams. Mine are more bizarre though…the more less extreme ones are my hair falling out and the other my teeth.
I have an ed so the thought of gaining a bunch of weight is always on my mind. I basically live a nightmare.
I have a Ed as well…only thing that's helped me eat more is by working out rigorously. In my mind, the food is being used as fuel for my muscle.

Most days I still don't feel like eating though.

At this rate, that wouldn't be a fear, it would be anticipating a miracle.
Unless you mean changing for the worse, which would be something, considering how bad things already are.

Sounds like you might be experiencing an actual delusion.
Your appearance is not going to rapidly change overnight unless you had a surgical intervention or some other mishap.

2/3rds of my hair has already fallen out in the recent years and I've lost healthy teeth to greedy dental "professionals"…yet I also still have nightmares of the rest of my teeth falling out or crumbling.
I think I read once that dreams about disintegrating teeth are somewhat common.

My face will be deformed in nightmares and I think it's real
I studied loads of things , dreaming is on of them

Dreaming about your face being deformed can mean you feel highly self conscious about your self or your looks. Or it could be that you feel guilty for something and therefore feel like you should be marked for what you did.

Not sure if this helps any...

Corrupt dentists are indeed a thing unfortunately… they told me I had 11+ cavities while the most recent dentist I went to said I only had 2.

Nothing worse than stumbling upon some dental gold digger - wanting to drill into your healthy teeth.

I think in my case though, my dreams relate to me always having teeth issues - so I'm always paranoid something is going to end up permanently wrong with them.

Teeth dreams are obvious we all lose our first set of teeth and I imagine most animals lose their second set too. Dream is reminder, warning, type of prediction to prepare you.

For me; not really. I'm already at that state. If it makes you feel better, if you somehow were to become irredeemably changed for the worst physically you wouldn't have to fear anymore.

As others said, to believe you are becoming entirely different overnight that might be a sign of some form of delusion. Or paranoia. It isn't possible to change appearance within a single night unless you been victim to some form of accident or underwent surgery. Perhaps you may have a physical aliment that may change you appearance too, however that is uncommon.

Unfortunately in your case even if you had heard bad things about professional help you still need it. That is part of the curse of having mental illness or physical disability; You will always be more vulnerable. And because you are vulnerable you will always attract sadist people who seek to harm you. They are everywhere, even in the professionals that you are dependent on for your survival. That's why they go into those professions after all, to torture someone who metaphorically is trapped within a cage.

There is a bright side for you despite this; You are still lucid enough to have the self agency to escape doctors or professionals who want to hurt you. Keep changing who you see until you find one who isn't trying to hurt you. You must act while you still have this gift, because delusions will cause you to further separate from reality to where you no longer have any say in what someone can and will do to you.

My physical appearance changed entirely, but I understand nothing stays the same. Not on Earth, from plate tectonics to seasons...it's forever changing. So is the universe for that matter...stars explode (super nova's) and stars are born. Change is inevitable...just try to deal with it...and who knows, maybe one day you'll wake up an entirely different person or your situation will have changed completely...

Same here. For some reason, dream me feels hotter, cuter, and just way more confident. I can't really explain it, but dang it feels nice even though it's just a dream.

Are you treated differently in your dreams? People avoid me like the plague when my face becomes deformed.

It mainly depends on what I'm dreaming exactly. Sometimes I can see judgment behind people's eyes, sometimes disgust, sometimes love. It really depends, it kinda changes with each dream.

I had a nightmare once that I was a duck. The whole thing was happening around duck level... like I was looking at the whole world from a foot and a half off the ground, just waddling around chasing the lady ducks and plopping my duck ass in and out of the pondwater. Sometimes I would rear up on my webbed feet, flap my wings forcefully in the air, stretch out my neck and declare loudly to the sky in duckspeak.

What made it a nightmare? Well, I was a young man at the time. I woke up in the middle of the dream, and realized it was a wet one.

Never felt the same around ducks since.

;)

I think we often dream about what we're feeling anxious about. My brain comes up with the most horrendous nightmares sometimes.

I rarely dream about my appearance to be honest- probably because I don't much care about it. Thinking about it, I'm not so sure I've ever seen my reflection in a dream!

I think- if anything, my brain is maybe kinder to me physically in my dream life. I tend to be able to do things I certainly can't in this life- sing, speak foreign languages, run, fly (I think flying is quite common.) I'm usually in horrible, anxious situations though. It's rare I have nice dreams.

I don't think dreams necessarily predict things. I just think it's our brains mucking about with our memories. Seeing as your appearance is so important to you, it's not surprising you would dream about it. You're anxious about it- so it likely makes it nightmare material. Some of my worst nightmares contain my (likely) Narcissistic step sibling. They can really affect me the next day.
