Usual atheist responses assumed - no need to leave them but go off if you want to.

For people who believe or don't, do you do this?

To be honest with myself.. when I start to, it makes me feel more ungrateful and failed, which harms my self esteem more. The best method of dying (to me at least) is to be gone with a blink and never have existed at all, something that could only happen from God or something similar.

People sometimes use prayer (and others mock it) as if it's a genie wish, like people praying for a new car or something. Obviously everyone doesn't just get what they pray for - it's supposed to be about appreciation and reminding yourself of the eternal perspective, I think. Generally my faith in the soul keeps me here and trying to do good, but I can't help it sometimes. When I do pray to die, it's full of apologies that I've been such a waste. Any good that I've done, feels like someone else would have done it better.

Kinda a sad version of a 'failed attempt'. Turned into a vent.

How about you?

Yes. My faith or belief has fluctuated, but I have prayed for that before. If there is a God, I don't think it's a request He would likely grant though. I hope things get better for you. šŸ’œ

I do it everytime. But I know there ain't anyone there to listen. If so, children wouldn't suffer starvation and so much disgrace around the globe. So for me its meaningless to do it anymore.

I am one of those atheists but I do pray for death in a way. It's just like desperately begging for relief, be it from god or the universe. Call it prayer, manifesting, or whatever you likeā€¦ to me it's just begging any higher power for mercy

When I was a child I was a Christian and one of my earlier memories is praying for God to let me not wake up. I was very young, so it was more like a genie wish.

I'm not religious now, but I have a very devout friend of mine who has suffered with suicide in the past, and he came to the conclusion that, for him, he thinks God can be forgive it, but isn't obligated to I guess. I found his take on it to be very informative actually.
Even though I'm not religious myself, I've found that religious people often have a lot of wisdom I can learn from, and I think the way he described suicide in relation to God was very eloquent.

I hope for it daily...

When looking into why cbt is so "wrong" I found that it is because of religious views/influences. I think that if there is a deity, they wouldn't disregard a person's pain. That is if they are as merciful as preached.

You shouldn't feel guilty over something you can't help... I hope things get easier for you.

Wow! I feel you! I never wanted to be myself. As a kid, I even asked my parents to call me by another name. I have given up on that idea, because somehow it happened. I had some truly good years ā€” I couldn't see it at that time, let alone keep it upā€¦

even though I'm not religious I still find myself praying that I could pass away comfy in my sleep. I feel like it's a hopeful wish for many on this forum. I relate to the part about feeling ungrateful after though, I hate the cycle of it.

I would if there were anyone to pray to. Maybe I should pray to the universe.

I know its just a saying, but I just realized that I wouldn't feel any better if I actually was richer than Elon. That wouldn't help at all.

Hey guys, I hope I am not hijacking the thread, but could someone tell me how to send a private message (PM)? When I click on someone's name in a thread, and then click on their name in a box that pops up, it says that I don't have permission to do that action. I was not able to send a PM from my account profile either. Do I need a certain number of comments before I can send a PM?

I do pray, I pray for death all the time, I pray for a death that makes people happy and relieved. I used to consider myself an atheist while not realising I actually still believed.
I think I have been such a bad person, done everything I am not supposed as per my religion that at this point there is no forgiveness for me. Although I am trying to redeem myself, ik it won't give me anything in return but ig I don't really expect anything.

I prayed for death in a quite Christian way too I guess when I was first suicidal at age 11/12, haven't done it after that though.
